Steer to retire at the end of Season 12

This has been coming for the last few months, but I think my attention to GP4 has dropped to a point where I should just call it a day.

It's safe to say the career hasn't been as stellar as I'd perhaps hoped, with not a single win to my name, a couple of activity bouts and driving ability enough to earn the nickname Connor "cannot" Steer . Thanks to Maikel, Chris, Rodrigo and Nata for giving me seats over the 8 seasons though. It's bit a blast to be part of it all.

I'll honour my agreement with Nata and see out the season as a fully active driver. I wish him and the team all the best finding a replacement for next season!

Another one bites the dust! Always a shame to see a long time stalwart of the series ride off into the sunset. Well done Connor on the GPGSL career so far, and with any luck you get some more additions to the highlight package before season end.

GPGSL Season 12 Free Practise, Round 8

For the first time in 2019, we welcome everyone back from the GPGSL hiatus over the Christmas/New Year period.
We are here in the hills of Austria, at the Österreichring circuit.

Unfortunately, the weather gods are playing tricks on us today, with rain falling on the circuit to start the test drivers Free Practise session.


First to set a time, Maikel De Boer...


Soutsen can't match De Boer....


Peters half a second off the pace....


Stoddart into 2nd, as the track appears to be getting even more wet on the front straight....


Karda goes to the top of the time sheet....


Elleker quickly takes over 1st


Sheppard manages only 6th...


O'Brien goes 2nd....


Gilson 4th fastest....


Keranen slots in 3rd....


Majumdar manages 10th....


Jalving goes 5th, in his new temporary role as a test driver....


Ingers bringing up the rear for now, down in last....


Scala into 9th....


Greenhalgh in 14th....


Moinet into 3rd, running off the racing line, having got a tow from Greenhalgh....


Beggani clocks in 13th fastest....


Silvestre slowest so far....


McGregor in the mid pack, going 11th fastest with his first lap...


Maverick shoots into 4th....


Cremasco struggles, going 20th....


And bringing home the 22nd place, Copeman....


With the first runs all done, the weather began to deteriorate, so the lap times were well off the pace....


A lot of water on the track, with lots of spray coming from the cars as they put in laps....



BUT, as the weather forecast had shown, things were expected to dry up. With just over 16 minutes to run, and at least 1 hot lap left for all drivers, this was going to turn into a lottery, as to who had the best conditions on track, the best grip, and the bravery to push hard in the drying conditions....

A dry line was beginning to emerge....


Moinet was the first driver to be on a hot lap as the track began to truly dry out, setting the fastest split time. Looks like he will get at least 2 runs on the drying track......


The Frenchman goes fastest....


De Boer next on track for a hot lap in drying conditions, taking the 1st place...


Karda next in line, goes 2nd....


Gilson sets the 3rd fastest time...


From last to first, Copeman tops the table now.....


Peters moves into 2nd....


O'Brien has his lap compromised, battling with a MAC just ahead of him....


But the Tyrant still goes fastest!


AMR boss Stu Ingers then snatches the top spot....


Then the DMR boss grabs the lead, with a lap blowing everyone else away, some 0.7 seconds faster....


Soutsen then goes 2nd, well behind Sheppard's lap though....


Elleker right on the pace, going 2nd and just behind Sheppard....


Greenhalgh in 3rd now....


Cremasco jumps from 21st, to 4th.....


Keranen to 6th....


Scala up to 3rd....


Nico Beggani then takes over at the top, going fastest....


McGregor narrowly misses that fastest time, going 2nd....


In the other MAC, Silvestre goes 4th....


And another new fastest lap, this time from Jalving in the DMR....


Maverick quickly knocks off Jalving from 1st though....


Stoddart in 4th.....


Majumdar pops into 2nd....


Copeman goes into 3rd place....


Eric Moinet then makes the best of the conditions, taking the top spot....


Karda goes to 2nd....


Cremasco 3rd fastest, as the last driver to complete a lap.....
