Welcome all GPGSL fans, to South Africa, and the much loved Kyalami circuit.
A fast and short layout, teams have turned their engines up with lots of boost spread through out the field. Today's qualifying session for the Test drivers, ahead of their feature race, is the first opportunity to see what effect the boosts may have this round....
So, with a brief coverage of the qualifying session, lets take a look...

Demon Racing's team boss goes fastest early in the session, putting to use the team and personal boost....

Matteo Scala took a turn at the top of the time sheet....

Series newcomer. Dominik Karda couldnt quite match the pace of his team boss in the Alpha, but not a bad debut session...

Eric Moinet put his Ecurie Mistral into 3rd place....

All drivers now done with this qualifying session, for the 30 lap Feature Race coming up....

But the session belonged to Glen Sheppard for DMR...

Join us back at Kyalami for more track action, "soon".

Well, i still can't figure this out! It might be my old desktop perhaps, but i can NOT see a way in Imgur to do a bulk copy of the code to post a bunch of screenshots - only individually. And Photobucket is still not allowing sorting of pics by filename, which was so easy to edit for a RD coverage.... GRRRRRR!

Really no rocket science
- create a new album [i.imgur.com] [i.imgur.com]
- upload the images to the new album [i.imgur.com]
- when done, select the album (1), then sort by filename (2) (assuming you did the renaming and resizing before, as suggested) [i.imgur.com]
- select "generate image links" (3), select the respective images, click done (4) [i.imgur.com]
- in the popup window, select BBCode and original, and copy the links [i.imgur.com]

Done.

A race win for me as thanks would be appropriate ;)

oooolala 4th!
Looks like we'll have our work cut out for us starting the feature race near the rear end of the field.

GPGSL welcomes the world to South Africa, for the beginning of todays track action.

A beautiful weather forecast greets us all at Kyalami, for today's running of a Feature Race. 30 laps lies ahead for our test drivers, and with a fast flowing layout, this distance and race will be over very quickly!

The field ready to go for their 30 laps around Kyalami.... Sheppard on pole, Scala alongside him.

3 wide down the hill as the field heads towards Turn 1....

Still 3 wide as the brakes light up going towards the first corner - McCarrthy in the DMR looks to be in good shape....

And it is Gareth McCarthy who looks to be leading the field into the first turn, having come from 5th on the grid...

The Aussie overtakes his team boss, to lead at Kyalami

Maikel de Boer sits in 4th, with Scala just ahead of him, and Moinet right behind....

The top 3 have a mini break on the chasing pack, as fights throughout the field allow the first 3 to run off into the distance....

Lap 1 drawing to a close, and the two DMR's battle at the front....

McCarthy hangs on to the lead....

De Boer has his hands full with Moinet in close check of him....

The midfield is tucked in close behind with the De Boer/Moinet battle bunching the field up a bit...

Scala seems to be falling behind from the two DMR's, despite their battle....

Moinet has moved ahead of de Boer....

The top 8 positions, mid way through lap 3...

Ed Greenhalgh in 11th, with heaps of opportunities ahead of him to climb a few positions...

Debutant in the Alpha, Karda is holding his own early....

Positions 1-8 as the leaders head towards starting their 5th lap....

Positions 9-16....

Positions 17-22...

De Boer sets a fastest lap whilst the two leaders continue to duke it out....

Scala has closed up behind the two DMR's as their squabble slows them down....

Side by side into Turn 1 for the two Demon drivers, and the MTP just sitting back waiting for something to happen....

Positions 5-9 in a fierce battle....

McCarthy is liking seeing that #1 position next to his name....

McCarthy starting to have a train form behind him as the race settles into a groove....

Snake team boss Maikel de Boer can see the leaders just ahead of him now....

Plenty of movement in the top 10 places so far....

Battles everywhere throughout the field....

The two SCR's are stuck in the midfield pack, a position they wont like...

Positions 1 through 8....

Positions 9-16...

And the tail end of the field, positions 17-22

It is now a 4 car fight for the lead, as McCarthy appears to be closing the pack up....

De Boer has arrived, sitting in 4th but right behind the lead 3....

Sheppard is still in full attack mode on his team mate....

De Boer peels off to the pit entry, with 2 cars directly in front doing the same - one car still out on track from that lead pack....

Scala arrives in his pit box, as De Boer cruises past in the fast lane....

And the other car from the lead group in the pits, is Gareth McCarthy....

McCarthy heads back on track, with Snake's team boss close behind...

Scala had a slower stop, and has lost some ground. Soutsen has gained some ground though, emerging not far behind the MTP of Scala....

Sheppard now back in the lead ahead of his pit stop, with a clear track ahead of him, and behind....

Maverick pits, with Sheppard just ahead of him. Pedersen in the MAC also heading for pit lane....

The DMR crew at work, as more cars enter the pits on what is becoming a hive of activity....

McCarthy looks to have lost out on the track position, with his team boss ahead of him after the pit stops....

Sheppard ahead of McCarthy after the stops....

MAC Racing's Nathan McGregor takes his turn at leading the race, having yet to make his pit stop....

Eric Moinet currently in 2nd....

And his team mate Nico Beggani in 3rd....

SCR boss Mal Stoddart hasnt pitted yet, and finds himself up to 4th, hoping the clear air might leapfrog him up the order...

McCarthy appears to be wide at Turn 1....

He has overcooked the braking, going into the gravel at high speed....

No damage to the DMR drivers car, but lots of traffic coming up behind him, he may lose a LOT of time here....

Heart break for McCarthy, throwing away his chances of a great result in South Africa, he manages to rejoin the field dead last....

Greenhalgh has a battle on his hands with Scala looking to overtake....

And Scala does overtake Greenhalgh into Turn 1....

Series debutant Dominik Karda makes his first pit stop in the Alpha....

Cremasco pits....

Nico Beggani gets his shot in the lead, with his fuel running low ahead of a looming pit stop....

Positions 1-8....

Positions 9-16...

And with half the race almost done, we will take a break. Back as soon as GPGSL's commerical sponsors have fulfilled their advertising roles....

No pace in the Tyrants at all. That is not a good sign for us as the rest of the race weekend continues on.

Perfect!! No problem!!

One Racing driver and team manager
GPGSL-3: champion in 2007/2013/2014!
GPGSL-4: testdrivers champion in Season 11!
Really? Again dropping from 5th to 14th in the pits? And the same for Matteo? And he's also suddenly missing in the top 16 positions screen ... no good sign at all. I'm getting really fed up with this pit stop crap.

Things were going so well for DMR until Gareth overshot turn 1.
Clear signs though, lots of boost means lot of speed.....

GPGSL Team Owner Debut - Melbourne, Season 8 - present
GPGSL Test Debut - Hungary, Season 4. GPGSL Race Debut - Adelaide, Season 5.
Both cars in Top 5 currently, (although Nico didn't made his pit stop yet). Could have been worse.

And we are back, for the next stretch of action from the Test Drivers feature race at Kyalami....

Cameras pick up Eric Moinet, who appears to be running wide at Turn 2, whilst there are already yellow flags back at Turn 1....

Moinet narrowly avoids the old net fencing....

Moinet has lost major ground after his off....

Meanwhile, back at Turn 1, replays showed Scala had outbreaked himself, slamming into the back of Greenhalgh

They both end up off track, and lost plenty of positions recovering....

Both cars slide deep into the sand, costing both drivers plenty of time....

The old school fences didnt quite catch them, but the damage of lost track position has ruined both their runs...

Greenhalgh eventually re-joins in 21st...

Scala now in 22nd and last....

Meanwhile, race leader Nico Begganis is in the pits, making his stop....

This returns the lead back to Sheppard....

Positions 1-8 at the halfway stages....

Positions 9-16...

And positions 17-22....

The midfield battle rages on, with several cars involved...

Karda in the Alpha currently in 15th, showing great speed so far...

Keranen as always, a solid performer....

Tyrant team leader Greg O'Brien tucked in behind the mid pack battle...

Majumdar takes a look to the inside of Karda on the run to Turn 1....

And the Indian driver takes that position...

After all the earlier chaos, Nathan McGregor has kept himself out of trouble, and sees himself in a very handy 2nd place...

The Snake of de Boer runs in 3rd place....

And race leader Sheppard, looking comfortable with a nice gap back to the chasing MAC...
A full rundown of positions shown below...

The battle between 9th-14th rages on....

Beggani draws alongside the AMR of Ingers...

And they get very close through the corner....

Ingers leads Beggani, Obrien and Keranen onto the long front straight...

Ahead of the Ingers/Beggani led pack, Stoddart is taking a run at Soutsen...

Stoddart tries to out drag the Christel machine down to Turn 1....

Soutsen holds off the SCR of Stoddart...

The other SCR of Joseph Gilson is 3 seconds up the road from Soutsen...

Stoddart is lurking close behind Soutsen, with other cars closing in the distance...

This looks like another midfield battle building, on the run home to the checkers...

And we take this opportunity to take a final break, before the run to the finish....
Back soon.

Amazed to see myself in front with just 10 laps or so to run - going to have to check the history books to see the last time i won a session or a race even!

GPGSL Team Owner Debut - Melbourne, Season 8 - present
GPGSL Test Debut - Hungary, Season 4. GPGSL Race Debut - Adelaide, Season 5.
Thanks for re-joing us here at Kyalami, as we make the final run to the race's conclusion...

Riding with Michael Soutsen, he has Mal Stoddart right behind him....

And behind Stoddart it is Nata Cremasco, who then has John Maverick hot on his heels...

The packed grandstands are getting to see some great action today...

The battle for the final points is going off, with Keranen and O'Brien duking it out...

An underwhelming day so far for Jack Elleker in the AMR...

A queit day also, for James Peters in the M.M Motorsport Ferrari...

A solid debut so far for Dominik Karda....

Chris Copeman won't be too excited with 18th currently...

Back at the front of the field, Sheppard looks like the race is his to win, holding a 2.7 second lead over McGregor...

An unwanted tag, but McCarthy bookends the field for DMR, with team boss in 1st, and himself in 22nd and last....

McGregor still has the foot to the floor, in pursuit of Sheppard, closing that gap ever so slightly...

And Gilson too, hasnt ruled out a podium finish, chasing hard to catch de Boer ahead of him...

Then the battle from 5th down to 12th can be seen in the one stretch of tarmac...

An aerodynamic freight train right there, after 25 laps of hard racing....

The Soutsen-Stoddart battle is heating up...

But as they battle, the chasing pack catches them...

Stoddart lost momentum in the battle with Soutsen, and now has Cremasco to deal with....

Defensive driving from the SCR....

As Soutsen has a mini break ahead of the angry chasing pack....

This battle is going to get crazy with 5 laps to go....

Ingers currently in 10th, but the way the battle ahead of him is building, 10th could easily turn into 5th....

Up ahead, de Boer is losing a bit of his pace, whilst Gilson motors on, catching the Snake driver...

Back to the very front again, and McGregor has Sheppard in sight, and a very big gap back to 3rd....

Matteo Scala will be very sheepish at races' end, after throwing away a potentially very good result....

De Boer still leads Gilson....

McCarthy in the foreground is being caught by race leader, and team mate Sheppard... team orders to come into play?

O'Brien still leads Keranen, who appears to be safe to secure that final point...

Drama with just 2 laps to go! Smoke pouring out of the SCR of Mal Stoddart....

And that is the day done for the boss of SCR. A blown engine....

Sheppard sets off on the final lap of the race....

And as the two leaders head onto the final straight one last time, the gap is too large now for McCarthy to challenge...

And taking the win, after a flawless run, is Glen Sheppard for Demon Racing...

McGregor comes home 2nd....

Maikel de Boer brings the Snake home in 3rd, with Joseph Gilson close behind in 4th....

And to recap the full results, see below....
