GPGSL S12 R14 Flevoland GP - Rubendrome, Emmeloord [Testers Q&R p.122 | Quali p.123 Race p.124!!!]

Posted by GPGSL
Welcome to the United States of America, the home of hot dogs, Budweiser beer, a reality tv show star for a President, and the wonderful motor racing circuit, known as Road America.

Our test drivers are soon to be on track, with the regulations slightly tinkered with as per the normal proceedures.
All drivers are able to run up to 16 laps, over an hour long session. GPGSL took the chance to trial this type of session after the Suzuka test driver session was extremely limited after rain interupted the running time for drivers.
So, lets get on with the action.....

Weather at the circuit looks perfect...

And, it is action very early on, as Nata Cremasco locks up in the braking zone, as he misses the apex....

And this is NOT good! MM Motorsport team mates have collided! On both drivers first flying laps - just as well they have plenty more laps free to run....

The team mates touch.....

James Peters, now sporting a new helmet design, may wish to return to the helmet of shame after this mishap with his boss....

Front right wing missing for Peters....

And the team boss has a wounded machine to cap off a disasterous first run....Can only get better from here for Cremasco and Peters.

Stoddart first to set a laptime....

McCarthy with good pace....

Moinet goes fastest early on.....

Majumdar clocks the 3rd fastest time....

Kederer in 5th....

Gilson well off the pace, having no doubt being slowed as he cleared the MMM Motorsport carnage....

Beggani benefitted from a bit of slipstreaming....

Maverick goes to 2nd....

Sheppard back in 8th....

De Boer 9th.....

McGregor takes that 9th spot....

Copeman clocks the 8th fastest time....

O'Brien manages 6th so far....

Soutsen shoots into 2nd....

Greenhalgh takes 7th....

Greidanus down the order....

De Los Rios finds some pace....

Cremasco returned to the pits after his early off, and sets a reasonable lap time....

Kederer leaps up the charts on his second flying lap, up to 2nd.....

A good lap from McCarthy in the DMR....

Ingers struggling to find his rythmn at Road America so far....

SCR gun Joseph Gilson goes bang, straight to the top of the time sheets...

Sheppard improves in the DMR....

Legge posts his first real lap time, after being compromised on his first run....

De Boer improves his time as well on his 2nd run...

Greenhalgh shows his hand, with a very quick lap....

Greidanus improves, but is still off the pace in the AMR...

Kederer makes a small improvement on his time....

Cremasco has an AMR on an outlap ahead of him, slowing him as he is on a fast lap. No blue flags to be seen....

Kederer has finished his session, 6th so far....

Moinet sits in 4th as his session concludes...

Majumdar a respectable 12th fastest....

Beggani should be happy with 7th fastest so far....

Greenhalgh ends up 3rd as he pits to end his afternoon....

Maverick would be pleased with his efforts....

Gilson's speed and confidence in the SCR just keeps growing, as he ends up fastest in this session....

At the other end of the time sheets, Jake Legge's enthusiasm has dwindled, announcing his retirement straight after this round concludes in the USA....

And it is McCarthy last to return to the pits....

So that is the Test Drivers session done. Congratulations to Joseph Gilson and Southern Cross Racing for claiming the fastest lap today.

Great performance by Mistral's boys with a double Top 10. Let's hope it translates into the main race.

What a shitty performance. Maybe lack of power, who knows.

I'm a total dick. How many people can say that?
3rd and 6th for the team. Good session and I like the new format.

I'm almost certain that FP always was supposed to be 30-60mins with 4 runs à 3 laps for each driver, all of them on the track the same time. That shitty 11/11 split only for race driver quali.

We could have expected that performance level here, especially with no boost! Hopefully everybody in front of us will blow up in the race anyways lol.

Rerun? ;)

Team boost worked out, but without a personal boost there wasn'r enough pace to get higher up the order. Hoping for a better outcome for our race drivers in qualifying.

Pretty good result for SCR, a few handy points in the bag. :-)

Not good. But even the Hamilton's of the world are near the back sometimes...

The session went as we kind of expected for Demon Racing. A bit of team boost, and driver boost from Gareth got some points, whilst I battled along down in the mid field runners, testing some bits for the main race drivers. No real surprise, but hoped for a bit better.....

Nice to get a top 3 result! Got some decent setup tips that will hopefully help us in qualifying

Reasonably good incident free session.

Kimi forever!
Wasn't too bad for me, but in the main session that might not be enough.
Very nice report of this session, love those photos in the pits... ;-)

Has anyone stuck their hand up to RD this round officially? I am at home on a Saturday night here, battling the man flu - i am quite happy to give this one a go. Just ran a qualy session, now about to do a race - so if no one puts their hand up in the next few hours saying they already have begun a coverage, i will stop mine..... If no others commit, i will post a qualy session by around this time tomorrow. Race to then follow over the days after....

Qualifying - Road America, Round 3 Season 12

We welcome everyone back to Road America today, for coverage of the qualifying session for GPGSL Season 12, Round 3.

A beautiful day greets the teams, with no hint of rain in the area.
The only glitch in proceedings being that someone up in Race Control forgot the session was 30 mins, and not 60 mins as the countdown clock displayed. No harm, no foul as the teams were smart enough to know, only 2 flying laps allowed....

So, on with the coverage we go.

Connor Steer is first to post a lap time...

Silva beats the time of Steer, to take 1st spot....

Hinz in the AMR surprisingly goes slowest so far in his first flying lap....

The Snake Motorsport entry of Keranen takes over 3rd spot....

Gianluigi Silvestre is 0.3 off the pole time on his first run....

Dan Mills almost 0.5 off the pace - a big gap in GPGSL world....

Sean O'Neill clocks in with a 1m37.6 lap time to take 5th...

Rod Vilela will be a bit miffed with this lap....

Pedersen in the MAC takes 7th so far....

Scala in the MTP goes 2nd....

Luke Russell brings up the rear so far....

Dutchman Charrel Jalving blows the field away, with a fantastic lap to rocket to the top of the timesheets....

Nick Worseling wont be too happy with 12th....

Worselings team mate Gilson however, sets a respectable time, to claim provisional 4th on the grid....

John Warrington back in 11th on his first run today....

Tobi Kederer with a great lap, taking a provisional front row spot....

AMR's Jack Elleker goes 4th fastest....

Retiring driver Jake Legge well off the pace in the Christel VXR....

Carlos Rodriguez will not like that lap time....

Daly McClure will be quite happy with that lap time, 3rd fastest with that effort...

Marcus De Bruyker in the midfield with 10th place so far....

Van Smirren getting to grips with the Snake, going 14th...

Gianluigi Silvestre improves his time in the 2nd run, going 4th quickest....

Christopher Hinz shows the power of the AMR, taking provisional pole.....

O'Neill in the Alpha goes to 13th on the grid with his second flying lap....

Vilela struggling in this qualifying session to get some raw speed, but improves his time a little bit....

Luke Russell looks like he will be the shotgun on the field, with the slowest time so far....

Worseling improves, moving into 11th on the grid....

A big improvement for John Warrington, leaping from deep in the pack, up to 4th....

And immediately following his team mate, Marcus De Bruyker puts the Tyrant entry on pole....

Jalving can't improve on his earlier efforts....

Kederer makes up a little bit of time on his flying lap, but no move up the grid, where he will start 4th....

So it is congratulations to Marcus De Bruyker, with pole position at Road America....

See you all back at Road America soon for the start of our 24 lap race coverage.
With the grid settled, and the top runners in the Drivers Championship spread through out the field, it promises to be an exciting race. We look forward to bringing the coverage to you....

Solid result for Tobias - bit disappointing for Sean but still something to work with for the race!
