GPGSL S12 R14 Flevoland GP - Rubendrome, Emmeloord [Testers Q&R p.122 | Quali p.123 Race p.124!!!]

Posted by GPGSL
Quite a disappointing race for us, I think we had the car speed to go with some of the higher runners today.
Really annoying, I saw the gap at T3 and went for it. Like it or not, I made it up far enough, Chris turned in and wheels got caught up. We saw the aftermath.
After that it was just a test session, and not a great one at that. We'll regroup with the team ahead of round 2 and hope that we get a bit further up that we don't have to worry about that happening again.
Solid return - gutted not to get a point in the full-fat race but it's an encouraging start.

Happy for Luke, getting Christel off the mark at Race 1's always nice.

Podium for Jalving in openingsrace GPGSL
Well that was rather great, to score a podium in the first race of the season is always fantastic. We still have some work to do on the Demon car, the setup still isn't quite the way I feel most comfortable. Still we were able to control the pace and push when needed.

I do feel sorry for my teammate Vilela, he had the better pace this weekend and deserved the victory. But very happy to see Demon Racing is on top of things, the team is just great. I expect to see us at the front on a consistant base, we know what to do.

I'm really happy with our first weekend, Connor did great, and a shame that Dan got caught in some accidents

GPGSL Power Rankings - Pre round 1
Just an idea guys

11 - M.M. Motorpsorts
MMM is behind Christel only due to the experience of their owners, Cremasco is only a rookie as a team owner, but despite that and with the help of Ferrari, the team managed to get two really good drivers, Steer and Mills had some good seasons under their hands, and their perfomance values can match even the likes of Tyrant and MAC

10 - Christel VXR Racing
They are back, Christel had some good years before, but now they're back with a total new team, with fan favorite Jake Legge, and rookie Luke Russel, as a rookie team they're really low in the rankings, but with Copeman's experience and some good luck they can have a good year.

9 - Snake Motorsports
Snake received a penalty last season, those 10 points would have put them in 8th, but instead they finished only in 10th place, in the last two seasons Snake has been hit with a lot of drivers change, and wanting to avoid that this season, team owner Maikel decided to bring back Van Smirren to be his second driver, keeping the Finnish legend Keranen, but the many years of inactive costed Van Smirren a lot, and his performance value is the lowest of the grid, that puts Snake this low.

8 - MAC Racing
MAC also received a penalty last season, and that hurted them, they finished dead last in the standings depite having some good results, Perdersen's performances wasn't as many expected, but he has received once again the chance to be MAC's number one driver, if he can repeat his performances of season 10, then MAC can aim high once again, they're only this low because of the performance value of second driver Silvestre.

7 - Ecurie Mistral
Ecurie Mistral did well in their first season, finishing in 7th place, they even grabbed a podium. They have retained their drivers, with Paulo Silva being their number one driver, but despite a good performance, they are still behind both MTP and Tyrant because of their drivers performance values. Let's see if with one year of experience they can prove to everyone thet they are indeed a good pair of racing drivers.

6 - Tyrant Motorsports
Last year Tyrant made it's debut at the GPGSL, Cremasco's 10th place in the championship helped Tyrant to finish in 9th, beating both MAC Racing and Snake MotorSports. But with both drivers leaving after the season, team owner O'Brien needed to spend some money, and with the aid of his new sponsor he did it, bringing both drivers of Team ONE, Bruyker and Warrington, they have the chemistry of being old teammates, with Warrington also being a former champion of the GPGSL.

5 - Maverick Track Performance
MTP's last season wasn't how they expected it would be, they have retired 9 times, more than any other team, their performances were better than the 8th place they got last season. If their luck improves and their car becomes more reliable, everyone in the paddock knows that their drivers are pretty good, Scala returns as their number one driver, now having Rodriguez as his partner, Rodriguez has all the experience the team needs, and their performance values are pretty good as well.

4 - Demon Racing
Demon finished last season only in 5th place, but with the departure of MPR, team owner Glen Sheppard decided to hire some big guns for the season, former MPR star Charrel Jalving and former Team ONE owner Vilela are set to start for Demon this season. Vilela is the reigning champion of the Tester's series, while Jalving hasn't finished outside of the top 10 since season 5, their performance values are at the same level of AMR and SCR.

3- Alpha Motorsports
Ed. Greenhalgh isn't driving anymore, so he has to do anything he can to stop Gilson of tying himself for most titles in the story of the GPGSL, he revived Alpha last season, and they were incridible. Kederer was a runner-up last season, winning 3 races, also, he has yet to finish a season outside the top 10. And together with Gilson has the highesest performance value of the league. Alpha is only behind AMR in our power ranking because of the inexperience of young driver O'Neill.

2- Aston Martin Racing
The most successful team in the story of the GPGSL, AMR wants to retake their rightfull place in the standings, together their drivers have the best performance values, and both of them were inside the top 6 of last season, each winning a race. They'll have a strong competition with both Alpha and SCR for the top spots this season.

1 - Southern Cross Racing
Current Owners of both the Drivers and Contructors championship, SCR boosts a strong start performance value, together with their last season drivers, defending champion Gilson and former 3rd place Worseling. They destroyed the competition last season, and are set to have a great season once again, Gilson is the favorite to retain the title this season, and he is keen to winning his third title overall.

GPGSL Power Rankings - Round 1

11 - Christel VXR Racing (-1)
Q:20 and 22
R:13 and 11

Christel managed to get two points in their return race to the GPGSL, despite having a really bad qualy, both drivers managed to stay most of the race out of troubles, with only Legge having a accident with Gilson on lap 3, they are only last because of their horrible qualifying.

10 - Snake Motorsports (-1)
Q:12 and 15
R:15 and 19

Qualifying placed both Snakes in the mid of the grid, the race started really bad for Keranen, he had two accidents in the first three laps, one which resulted in the retirement of Hinz, he never managed to recover. Van Smirren was having a good race running in 9th place, until a touch with Kederer made him lose a lot of positions. Snake left the weekend without any points.

9 - M.M. Motorpsorts (+2)
Q:16 and 19
R:17 and 8

The first ever race for the M.M.M. saw both drivers on very diffferent situations, Steer performance was amazing, finishing in 8th after starting only in 19th, he managed some very needed points for the team, Mills on the other hand saw his race destroyed by accidents, his car didn't had the pace required to finish on a high note.

8 - Ecurie Mistral (-1)
Q:8 and 11
R:18 and retired

Very strong performance by Ecurie in the qualifying, and both drivers were in good posititions in the race as well, but an early pit to Silva after he received a bump from Gilson, and a transmission failure for McClure leaves Ecurie with no points, but they have showed everyone how fast they can be.

7 - Southern Cross Racing (-6)
Q:10 and 21
R:14 and 10

The disappointment of the weekend, everyone was expecting a lot of the current champions, but both drivers performances were horribles, Gilson had a lot of accidents and Worseling had a grotesque qualifying. Lucky for them, Worseling managed to gain a lot of positions to grab a few points.

6 - Tyrant Motorsports (=)
Q:14 and 1
R:16 and 2

Tyrant leaves the weekend with a great second place by Warrington, but they know that De Bruyker could have performed better, the Belgian never had the same pace as his teammate, and had a touch with Van Smirren. But Tyrant should be confident for the next rounds, their perfomance was really solid. Also, Warrington had the first pole position of the season.

5 - MAC Racing (+3)
Q:7 and 18
R:5 and 9

You'll almost not see a highlight of the race with a MAC car, and that's their trumph card, staying away of accidents made them finish inside the top 10 with both cars, and Pedersen showed some lapses of his good performances, finishing in 5th place.

4- Aston Martin Racing (-2)
Q:2 and 9
R:4 and retired

AMR's race was going very well, until lap 2, Hinz got in some accidents with Keranen and Gilson, and had to retire after a hard hit. Despite that, Elleker still managed to finish in 4th place, if Hinz didn't had to retire both cars could have finished inside the top 5. Their qualifying was superb.

3- Alpha Motorsports (=)
Q:17 and 13
R:12 and 7

Kederer's qualifying wasn't as he expected, he needed to prove himself in the race, and almost did it, if it wasn't for a trouble with Van Smirren in lap 9, Kederer could have gone to the top 6 easily. His teammate had a solid race, out of troubles, to finish in 7th, and even Kederer managed a point at the end of the race.

2 - Maverick Track Performance (+3)
Q:5 and 4
R:1 and 6

MTP's race was perfect, they had a strong qualyfying, putting both cars inside the top 5, and had luck in the race to grab that first place. Scala won the race, and the fastest lap, while Rodriguez put a solid race to finish in 6th, MTP's is the leader of the championship after the round 1.

1 - Demon Racing (+3)
Q:6 and 3
R:3 and retired

If MTP is the leading team, why not are they in first here? Well, that's because Demon performed even better. Vilela lead the race until a transmission failure costed him the win, Scala could have gone for the fight, but we'll never know. Also, a strong 3rd place by Jalving gives the Demon team something to cheer. They were the better team.
