Installing a car - what am I doing wrong?

I downloaded a car from GP4 db that I want to install as car 11 in my 2004 mod.

I renamed the lod files from car_sauber_car1_lod_0.gp4 to car_prost_car1_lod_0.gp4 with Advanced Renamer.

I went to my cars.wad, renamed it to 'cars temp.wad', then I right clicked on 'extract wads to dir' then I moved the new car's lod_0.gp4 files and textures to 'cars temp.wad' folder.
then I right clicked on the temp folder again and selected 'compressed folder to .wad'
I overwrote the old wad. renamed the 'cars temp.wad' back to cars.wad

But when I tested the game the new cars are still not there??

Have I missed something?

The car mod only came with lod_0.gp4, it did not have lod_1, 2, 3 or 4. And it only had car1 file, it didn't come with car2 file. Would that have been a problem?

TIA!

UPDATE: Problem solved!

Have you checked with TeamEditor that the car is included and you can force to look at lod_0 only . Might help.

No I haven't used teamEditor yet. Will teamEditor have issues when the game is launched with CSM?

Starting GP4 with CSM leads to different errors the most time. I never use it. Are you using GPxPatch? You should use all lods and not just lod_0. And the fact that you using a cars temp.wad or something like that is also a bit strange. Make a backup of your original cars.wad from 2001 and never rename that files, I can lead to such errors as it does for you. Please try if you get the car ingame without CSM first.

Did you rename the lod 0 to lod1 to lod 4 ??
you Need all the lods the 5 from each cars
Expect if you only use the lod 0 in your Mod

@brudu92 that is true but in Team Editor you can specify for the game to use lod_0 only for each car..
on another issue i drag and drop my file car_team1_car1_lod_0 straight into the open wad file using easy wad from zaz tools and this works.

If you are using CSM then you don't do any replacing in the cars.wad!
All you have to do is put your car files (car and textures, you don't even have to rename them) in the data/cars/eleven directory of the 2004 mod (backup the original eleven car first) and CSM will do the rest.

Yes that worked! The only problem I'm having now is that the cockpit is all white. I checked that the textures 1, 2 and 3 are set to hi_ and I still have that problem.
Any suggestions?
UPDATE: Nevermind, I worked it out, thanks for your help!
