I see that the French GP is back on the F1 calendar this year and running at Paul Ricard. Never a big Magny Cours fan, I look at this as a positive and wonder if anyone out there in the GP4 community has thought of deveoping that track, which has obviously been changed in a major way since the 1988 version on the GP4 db.

Prblanco had been developing the new F1 solution, based on his WIP files, but he is not involved with track building for GP4 anymore AFAIK.

There was an old project to develop the 1A layout (using the old Verriere chicane and the full Mistral Straight), but that one was abandoned as well.

However, you may still find a beta version of the latter, without scenery and with only the basic blue stripe at the verge of the track, in the first post of my workthread. Physically, it is highly accurate, and although it's not exactly what Formula 1 is going to use, some say the old flat-out Verriere had a better flow to it and most of the drivers would say they would use the full Mistral Straight instead of the chicane option anyway, so I think it's worth giving it a go.

Yes there is a WIP track based on .DAT from F1 Virtual.
The very large majority of Banks had to be done, and now that's ended I started the graphical part of the job.
However there is still a long way before the release. Target is the week-end of the real event... but it's only a target. In the mean time, real life could interfere ...

Great news! Must be nice to work on a 'home' GP track as well after all these years without one!

Nice (H)

If only they'd be using 1A rather than 1C-V2

Can't wait to see the finished track. I think it will look fantastic and be a very good track.

Yes, it probably will. At least one positive point about Paul Ricard.

> ...and be a very good track.
Maybe the conversion from reality to GP4 will be great, yes. But the track itself will be as boring as hell, because the modders can only convert what is delivered by the reality. I think, in Le Castellet we will see one of the most boring tracks in Formula 1-history, right after Sochi.

I'm afraid that klausfeldmann and ooleeeo are right. In the end it's like always: great name, great history, boring presence
