just a few questions after reading FAQ

hey guys ....and possibly girls.

I have read through many threads , all the FAQs and have my game running good. ( no mods such as tracks or carsets installed )

I have gp4 , official patch , decrypt exe and gpxpatch. ... running a I7 , win7 pro , gtx 750ti , 16gb ram and
have done all the things that the help threads suggest like compatibility boxes checked etc.. and have no problems running the game.

I play this at 60fps ..i read in a few posts that 30 is preferable for stability reasons. I tried 30 but gee its tough on the eyes for me....

Regarding gpxpatch i have tried a multiple of combinations regarding the cpu = all ,0,1,2 etc... i find having all or 0 works fine but experience regular ctd's on Monaco if i have cpu=all so i set that to 0 for that track and it seems to fix the issue.

- debug mode seems to make the game run worse so i don't bother.

I only seem to get a CTD while i am in the garage watching the AI complete their laps ..wether it be practice or qualli and it usually happens if I remain idle in the garage for more than 10,15 minutes.
other than that i can complete multiple races with no CTD ...

my questions to the veterans of this game who know what they are talking about are...

do all you guys play at 30fps / cpu set to 0 ...and for stability reasons is this the best way to play gp4 ?
I have not read anywhere anyone experiencing the same ctd as myself.

I use 30 fps and CPU 0. I still have the occasional CTD, though.

I use 39 fps and cpu 0 and I too get the occasional ctd.

thanks for your answers ...

As I mentioned above I am only getting these ctd's while watching the AI complete their laps whilst in garage , I should also add that it seems only if I watch in tv director camera ...and it happens if I sit idle watching for 10,15 mins.
do you guys get ctd's like this or just random ones wether it be in race , menu screens etc..?

I will also mention that I have AA and some other things forced on the gpu control panel.
do you have anything else forced on through your gpu control panel ?

You guys could all run 60 though right ? ...but you choose to run at 30 / 39 for stability reasons ?

the only track that's giving me issues at cpu=all is Monaco but i fixed it by using cpu=0 for that track ...strangely all the the other tracks ( default vanilla gp4 ) seem fine at 60fps cpu=all

I can be a dreadful typer at times that's why i have lots of edits on my posts and i also forget to mention things after i hit submit.

What is CTD?

Running 42fps, cpu 0, +- 80% CPU usage

I3 3.0Ghz, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA 9500 1GB
Anti-aliasing 2
Anisotropic filtering 8x

CTD = crash to desktop ( error gp4 has stoped working )

ok so you have AA and AF forced on .... is 42fps your sweet spot or is that just for stability ?

If you have CTD logging enabled in gpx, you can post the log here so users can review it.

Thanks!

It's because if I put more than this my computer can not handle it, and if I put less than 35 for example, it looks like it's jumping on the TV camera.
Also, CTD happens here sometimes too. And sometimes I need to close CSM through CTRL+ALT+DEL.

hey thanks mortal I wasn't sure if that was proper or not

so I enabled de-bug mode and got a log .... but after some more searching it appears another user had a similar log and someone said it is most likely a sound issue and suggested an earlier build of gpxpatch.

I am trying 4.02

here is the log anyway if anyone can spot something obvious

Removed your double posts, for a moment there I thought I'd lost the entire thread. Phew! Sent a pm on what you should do next. :-) M.

Double posted, so double answer: You probably have set the CPU setting in GPxPatch to "All"? If yes, try to use 0.
