GPG Nations Cup Rd 2 Spanish GP - Race Day

Part 3

Welcome back once again.

We return from the break to find a bunch of cars coming in for their stop.

Hang on, it looks like Tafuro has made his stop at the same time as Bobby. His stop is taking so long because he has to wait for the pitcrew to come back out and do the stop. He won’t be happy at all about this.

Not long after we find our leaders in for their stop. This will be a crucial stop for both teams.

It looks like Rodriguez has gotten out ahead of Cremasco.

In come Hatfield and McGregor for their stop.

It’s going to be interesting to see if Cremasco will be able to close in again on Rodriguez.

Saputra could play a part in their battle should he get closer.

The top 4 are all in.

Saputra is also in, which leaves Cremasco free to focus on closing in on Rodriguez.

Kuei is now in.

Saputra rejoins behind Silvestre.

Kederer finds himself behind Tyrson. As Tyrson’s earlier stop was unscheduled to fix his Throttle problem, he will still need to make his scheduled stop. So Kederer doesn’t have to worry about trying too hard to get ahead.

Maslov is ahead of Pryce.

With all cars having now made their stop (Tyrson still has his scheduled stop to take), let’s check out the current standings.

Tyrson comes in to take his scheduled stop.

Silvestre and Hatfield have the final points positions.

The gap between Rodriguez and Cremasco is remaining consistent.

Tung is back inside the points despite having to pit early due to a Throttle issue.

Once again, it’s Kederer vs Bobby.

Saputra is doing all he can to try and close in more on Vukcevic.

The gap has decreased between Rodriguez and Cremasco. We could be seeing a late race charge for Cremasco.

Grimaldi has Prost ahead of him. The Frenchman’s race just hasn’t gone well for him at all.

It is on between the two South American countries.

With under 10 laps remaining, let’s check out the current standings.

Time for one last break. When we return, we’ll be going to the end of the race.

Team France - Mid-race update

It's been disappointing certainly so far, and we're fairly certain at this point that is most certainly a case of the driver extracting the maximum from the car, just being let down by the package he's been given.
We're still hopeful to salvage something here - in total terms, we're not that far outside a top ten; there just happens to be a lot of cars between us and there - as there is some ways still to go, but the focus is now mostly on preventing a similar showing next time out.

Well done, mate! Now just bring it home and the podium is ours!

Part 4

Welcome back for the final time.

With a gap of under 1s between Rodriguez and Cremasco, we are set for a fantastic battle between the two drivers.

Pryce is ahead of Tung.

The gap between 1st and 2nd has gone up slightly.

Maslov currently holds the final podium spot.

We have 5 laps remaining.

Vukcevic is just outside the points and has Saputra chasing him down.

Grimaldi is trying his best to close in on Prost.

McGregor has come into the pits. It’s an unscheduled stop to fix up an Electrical problem.

Back to the front and Cremasco has really closed in more on Rodriguez.

He goes for a move.

And he gets it done to take the lead.

4 laps left.

Saputra is off the road.

Prost goes for a move on Silva, and Grimaldi tries to go through as well.

Electrical Problems brings an end to Saputra’s race.

Kederer has a decent gap back to Bobby which could potentially get bigger as the American has to watch out for Hatfield.

3 laps left.

According to the timing, it looks like Silvestre is not going to be able to close in on the battle taking place ahead of him.

Prost is now in 12th. It’s still not where he was hoping to be considering he was inside the top 6 prior to the pitstops.

At the rear, Tafuro has caught up to McGregor.

Not long now to go for Cremasco.

Tung may have no choice but to settle for 5th as he can’t seem to close in more on Pryce.

Kederer still has the gap back to Bobby.

Hatfield can still potentially make a move on the American before the race comes to an end.

Tyrson is now on the rear of Grimaldi and goes for a move.

It didn’t work out for him and now Keranen is right on his rear.

Cremasco has done really great here today.

He comes through the final corner for the last time.

And he takes the chequered flag to win the Spanish GP.

Rodriguez takes 2nd, though he will be slightly unhappy knowing he had a chance to take the win here.

Rounding off the podium is Maslov.

The race has finally come to an end. Congratulations Nathan Cremasco and Team Brazil, our winner of Rd 2. All race long we thought Rodriguez and Team Uruguay would’ve been the one to take the race win, but their pace in the second stint just wasn’t as good as or better than Cremasco. At least it’s still their best result so far since they made their debut in Season 4. Anyways, that wraps up our coverage. We hope you enjoyed it, and we hope to see everyone back here again when we bring you the coverage of Rd 3. So until then, it’s goodbye from Motorland Aragon.

So damn close. Guess boosted or not, Brazil is ahead of us in experience and that showed today. Parabens Natã!

And of course, massive kudos to the whole team, brilliant job that paid well, though not as well as we expected, but that only means we'll return stronger. It's asado time now!

Stats: 139 Starts / 7 Wins / 9 Poles / 5 Fastest laps
Decent result considering the lack of boost

Team Russia:
First podium finish in our second race in the series! Fantastic result! Thanks to Viktor our strategy and race plan worked perfect this time. Looking forward to extend that good start of the season with a decent result in Portugal.

Team Ireland

Disappointing 15th place for Ireland due to a throttle problem which cost us some valuable points for our team. Well, it was bad luck, it happens sometimes...

Next race will be better for Ireland so it's not yet over.
A bad result for us once again.. it's getting tiresome

Team France - Post-race

For sure it's disappointing to finish where we did after our qualifying performance, but we're confident that it was a car issue unique to this particular event that won't occur again.
So heads down now, and onward to the next race.

Worst lap of the race! That tells everything about our lack of pace on race day....

-----------------------------------------------------

TEAM UAE

Pretty happy, got in the points from a starting position being outside. Qualifying was a let down and made it tough to finish higher up the order.
Gosh darnit, I'd really hoped to sneak some points from that one. I guess I shouldn't have expected much but still. Is one point too much to ask?

pleased for Team Wales to get our title defence underway and open the account with some decent points. glad to see that despite mot having as much outright oace as some we were close to jagging a podium
Team China

5th. A good comeback from Cheng after having to pit early to fix the Throttle problem. If it was a couple of laps before the start of the scheduled stops when it happened, then most likely we would've had to bring Cheng back in. So in a way, we were very lucky. Hopefully by the next round we'll be on top of the Throttle issues so it won't hinder us again.

Monaco GP

Happy we didn't waste a boost on this one.

Great to finish 6th, especially since the car had downright no pace in the race. Happily the gap behind was big also!

If you are racing, keep on racing and get some points!
