That'll do I suppose. Now only to replicate that in qualifying...

Short info

A first run of the race turned out quite chaotic, with many drivers spinning off, two off them even getting stuck. After talking over it with John, the race was rerun with AI errors reduced to 10, producing a smoother and fairer race. Quali should go up later today probably, race within this week.

Round 5 - Spanish GP - Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya

Welcome back everyone to today's qualifying session for the Spanish GP. Many favourites for the pole position, going by the boosts used this round. With Barcelona said to be a circuit difficult to overtake on, this session might be crucial for the outcome of the race already.

Thomas with the first timed lap, a rather slow one

Keranen fails to beat it by almost 2 tenths though

Kederer the first with a 1:18, but judging by the practice results we should see even faster times

Silva beats Kederer's time by 2 tenths as yellow is out, Thomas has stopped his car in turn 2

Pedersen with P3

P5 for McClure

Cremasco slots in behind him in 6th

Warrington with a fast lap to grab 2nd place

Rodríguez goes fastest, doesn't beat Copeman's practice time though

Sanvitale in 6th

Only for a moment though as Scala beats his time

3rd place for Elleker

Last round winner Spangenberg with the 8th fastest time

Copeman fails to match his practice pace in his first run

S9 champion Gilson in 9th

3 tenths behind means 7th place for Hinz

Jalving in 8th right behind the AMR driver

Round 3 winner Worseling in last

Not for long though as Ancevski goes slower

Nell in 13th

Oh so close to 1st, de Bruyker in P2 now

Chris Warrington the last one to complete his first run, 8th place for the Brit

Standings after the first runs, Rodríguez in front

Cremasco moves up 2 places to 17th

McClure improves to 15th

Kederer up to 4th

Quite the improvement for Sanvitale, 8th place now

Keranen improves his time, not enough to gain a place though

Thomas in 16th now

Only 11 thousandths missing for a 2nd consecutive pole for Elleker

His teammate Hinz moves up to 7th

Ancevski hands the wooden spoon to Worseling

Not for long though, as the Dutchman moves up to 18th

Copeman up one place, back to 11th

Jalving fails to match his teammate's pace

Gilson improves to 14th

That's it, congratulations to Carlos Rodríguez, 5th career pole for the MPR driver

Good to see Paulo on second row.

Front row, I'll take that
Hopefully I can get a good run into the first corner and steal the lead

Boost@Barcelona......Bollocks.

Lemme guess, fairer race means that Tobi avoided spinning his car during re-run. Amirite, amirite? ;)

I know it's meant to be a joke, but as a general info nonetheless:

Tobi never gave names when he wrote me about the chaos in the first race and what he described was definitely a situation nobody would have been happy with. I much appreciate his foresight to double check the situation with a board member because he knows very well how disappointing a race is for the absolute majority (even most non-involved drivers) when it's highly infected by game errors.

As for quali, it was the expected disappointment. The car didn't work on this track for the whole weekend and I don't expect this to get much better in the race. Hopefully, next race will be better again with a new lineup and less chaos in the pits.

Honestly, there would've been many angry drivers. Having been angry myself quite often, I know what I speak of. The re-run was the sensible decision.

On another note though, boring Barcelona is far from it. There was plenty of overtaking. In that regard the track is top class.

No you won't ;)

Massively happy with the result, showing that the historic pace is there! Hope the boringness of the track plays into my hands.

Yep, many tracks that seem to be boring in real life produces entertaining races in GP4 game somehow, I noticed this as well. And Catalunya is certainly one of these tracks (Y)
And sorry for that silly joke. On second thought it was rather salty, I guess. In fact, I have nothing wrong with you even winning the race, if the game deceided so c:

Good performance overall, seems we learned a lot from the fp. Still room for improvement in the race, though.

used to be GPGSL's Nick Heidfeld
