GPGSL S11: R14 Flevoland GP [VACANCIES, join now!!! || R13 QUAL online p.157, RACE p.158!!!]

Posted by GPGSL
A lot of work to do in 17th, and yeah I expect we struggle in the race as well.
Welcome back to the glorious Spa Francorchamp circuit, for today's running of the Belgian GP
The weather forecast thankfully looks fantastic, compared to the wet weather that the test drivers endured, and again yesterday the qualifying session. A full dry race expected, which should allow for some great racing and battles throughout the field

The field is assembled on the grid, with lights about to go green....

First corner action, and Jack Elleker pokes his nose into the lead, just ahead of pole sitter Joseph Gilson

A clean start for everyone, with the entire field safely navigating around the first turn....

Heading up the Kemmel Straight for the first time, it is a bunched field at the front, with Gilson attacking Elleker for the lead....

Gilson goes down the inside to take the lead....

Elleker has lost a bit of momentum through the sequence of turns, allowing Jalving to close right up....

Jalving takes 2nd place....

Gilson sets the fastest lap after Lap 1, obviously....

Matteo Scala brings up the rear after Lap 1...

The first yellow flag of the day is waving - what has happened back down the field....

It's the DMR of Dan Mills facing the wrong way....Looks like a spin after coming together with the MAC Racing entry...

Copeman in the MAC has lost a lot of time after the contact with Mills, banking up the field behind him as a result....

Local boy Marcus De Bruyker holds down 9th place early on....

The top 8 positions mid way through Lap 3....

Nell takes a dive at McClure....

That battle continues....

And continues all the way to the final chicane....

Positions 9-16 in the early stages....

Some movers up/down in the top 10 early on in the field, as Gilson builds a nice lead....

Uh-oh! Paolo Silva has overcooked it, running wide....this could be BIG.....

Upon re-entering the track, he makes BIG contact with John Warrington, taking them both out of the race....

Silva slams into the wall....

Warrinton missing a front wheel, and nursing a big headache after that impact....

The action continues at the rear of the field, but after the carnage with Warrington and Silva, there is now another yellow flag waving up at the final chicane....

Silvestre is off track....

And, Charrel Jalving is missing a front wing! What has gone on here??!!

Replays show Jalving has spun, with Silvestre heading straight for him....

And there we go. Contact between the two of them....

Title contender Tobias Kederer manages to slice his way through the chaos...

Fellow title contender Jalving looks like a tiny bit of luck is on his side, and will be able to limp into pit lane. Silva on the other hand, is OUT of the race....

Jalving does make it to pit lane - this will badly impact his race, with (bizarrely!) the MPR team not putting enough fuel in his car, meaning he will have to make a later stop in the race for fuel....

Up ahead, trouble again it seems, with Tyrant's Tom Dilain running off track....

Head on into the wall he goes....

Minus a front left wheel, he will be out of the race. 2 DNF's in a row for the rookie....

Meanwhile, out front it is Gilson leading comfortably....

Positions 9-16 shown below, as the battles rage on....

Positions 1-8 after a chaotic opening 7 laps. Gilson has a very, very comfortable lead....

No other cars in sight of leader Joseph Gilson....

And with reluctance, we throw to our first commercial break..... back soon(ish)

I'll be happy if I can get at least one point out of this race. Oh dear...

That left hander is still notorious since cars rejoining there always seem to hit another car in the process.

After a short break, we are back with the action at Spa....

We re-join, as the pit stops are beginning to take place...

Jalving has managed to overtake some traffic, albeit via others making pit stops....

Mills attacks Spangenberg at the final chicane...

But next camera shot, he has lost a lot of ground....

A costly spin loses him plenty of time, whilst the Snake driver escaped with no problem....

Further ahead, it is Nell and McClure locked in a tough battle as the pit stops near....

Nell moves ahead, as McClure slows for pit lane. Could this be the time for series defending champion to put the hammer down whilst having clear track ahead...

Through the cycle of pit stops, Scala is up to 7th....

Cremasco holds off local favourite De Bruyker....

Keranen and Nell pit....

Nell staying out 1 lap longer works, as he emerges just ahead of McClure....

But McClure has the momentum and warmer tyres as they head up the long Kemmel Straight...

And slides past Nell, to regain his place in front of the German....

A tight battle now rages between McClure, Nell and O'Neill....

Solidly in the points, series leader Kederer is holding off Worseling after all pit stops have been made....

Cremasco sits ahead of De Bruyker after the pit stops....

De Bruyker has Carlos Rodriguez lurking close behind him...

And there is trouble for Pedersen in the MAC Racing Jaguar! An engine has let go....

His team mate Chris Copeman cops the aftermath of the smoke, whilst further down the long straight, the Nell/McClure/O'Neill battle is hotting up....

Christopher Hinz appears to be joining that fierce battle, as he draws closer to O'Neill as they enter the start/finish straight. Things are getting crazy with this midpack battle....

Positions 8=12 look like they will be closely fought out until the finish....

After what seems like a race long battle, Nell finally moves ahead of McClure

Meanwhile, MPR's Charrel Jalving is still stuck down in effectively last place, after his unfortunate earlier damage, pit stop and then a second pit stop for more fuel. Bad day for one of the title contenders...

Joseph Gilson just continues on at the front, with no concerns at all...

Gilson clocks the fastest lap of the day on Lap 15...

Hinz has closed right up on O'Neill and McClure - is he poised to pick up a few spots before the chequered flag flies....

O'Neill makes the move on McClure....

O'Neill now in front of McClure, who has Hinz all over the back of him. And further ahead, Nell is trying to lunge ahead of Copeman in the MAC...

Elleker sits solidly in 2nd, with Kederer trailing by over 4.5 seconds

Worseling appears to be comfortable in 4th place, with a nice gap back to Cremasco...

And with that, we take our final break before coming back to see the final laps unfold.
The chaos has seemingly settled down through the middle of the race, will we see any more drama as the race draws to a close?
Find out when we return later today!!

Tale of two stories yet again for Demon Racing. Strong qualy for Dan gone to waste, and Seb charging through the field to hopefully collect some points. Come on boys, bring home some highly needed points!

Season 9: Constructors' Champions
And we are back for the final run to the finish line.....

De Brukyer running strong in his home race for One Racing, currently in 6th place

Christopher Hinz moves up a spot, completing the pass on McClure who seems to be fading....

Sebastian Nell seems to have eyes on overtaking Copeman in the MAC, who has taken a defensive line into the first corner hairpin

Copeman bizarrely locks up after braking early, allowing Nell an easy pass...

O'Neill is chasing hard to catch Copeman, but also needs to keep an eye in his mirrors for Hinz who is on the move forward....

Hinz on the hunt for the Alpha in front of him....

Almost a full minute off the lead, Charrel Jalving is still trying, catching up to the Snake of Douglas Spangenberg

Hinz meanwhile is putting the pressure on O'Neill, having used a strong draft to draw up behind the Alpha as they headed up the Kemmel Straight....

Oh no! Copeman is off! He avoids the wall, but this is going to cost him dearly....

He is forced to wait for a break in the traffic before safely re-joining, costing him his place in the points...

At the rear of the field again, Jalving is right on the back of the Snake....

And elswehere, Hinz has caught O'Neill...

Hinz motors on past O'Neill to take the 9th place....

And back to the battle for last, Jalving is having a go at Spangenberg...

And, well.... this caps off a dismal day for the MPR, as he tags the Snake Motorsports rear, sending him into another spin. What a day for the title contender. This round may just eliminate Jalving from contention....

Spangenberg also got turned around, to cap off an ordinary day for him....

Meanwhile, out front it is still Joseph Gilson with a commanding lead, well and truly safe for the victory unless something horrible goes wrong....

The MPR climbs out through Eau Rougue, with the positions of the 1-8 on display....

Positions 9-16 on display, with Hinz in foreground of shot following Nell in the DMR....

Final lap underway for our runaway leader....

Fourth place Worseling closely tailed by Cremasco, and in the rear we can also see De Brukyer and Rodriguez...

But, after a flawless performance, it is Joseph Gilson in the Southern Cross Racing Renault, taking victory at Spa Francorchamps. This will go down as a truly dominant weekend for the Brit, and going a long way to helping him in his championship chase...

Second place goes to Jack Elleker in the Aston Martin Racing entry. Elleker never really got close to Gilson, after relinquishing the lead early in the race....

And in third to complete the podium, Tobias Kederer in the Alpha Motorsports machinery. A very solid result for another championship contender.

The championship race now closes to just a single point between Gilson and Kederer, with just two races remaining. Jalving now sits 14 points off the lead, so he is going to need things to all go his way if he wants the ultimate glory in Season 11.

This wraps up our coverage from Belgium, until next time in Silverstone, we bid you farewell...

Demon Racing post race press note

Well, that was a tough weekend for us. From the Free Practise and Qualifying, our drivers were all over the time charts, leaving us unsure how our race pace would be. The wet weather certainly didnt help out.
Our race pace was okay. Real shame for Dan Mills having his spin, which cost him dearly - we think there may have been a second off track excursion, not caught by the cameras. And Seb did a great job, charging through the pack to get a good points finish, keeping himself out of trouble.

So, we move to Silverstone, where we sincerely hope we can give our buddy Dan Mills a British GP to remember. Whether there will be an old style TNR mother load of boost, remains to be seen....

Great result for Cremasco once again. Not sure what happened with Dilain though that caused him to run off the road and into the wall. One of these days we'll succeed in scoring a double points finish. Now to look ahead to Silverstone where we hope our luck will be much better.

It's good to bring home some points, yet Gigi's retirement is disappointing..

My GPGSL Career
Though Cremasco manages to finish 5th, Tom's 2 DNFs in a row surely ain't gonna make the boss happy.
Not too shabby being on the podium after the mediocre quali, though I would've preferred it if Joseph wasn't on the top step. Will be tough against him in the final 2 rounds, seeing the remaining boosts and his success rate when using them :/

A tough race after a bad qualifying but I still manage to the 3 points. Congrats to Tobias for getting on the podium.
Looking forward to Silverstone.

Pole, win, and fastest lap at Spa, I love this circuit! ;) Was not expecting to cruise away and win after Elleker got ahead at the first corner, but the car was setup perfectly. I'm now expecting a terrible weekend at Silverstone ;)

Gilson was absolutely untouchable, but I'm very happy with my 2nd place
