I had the same thought, and did this in the Patch.ini
[V1.02]
; StWheel text colour
Offset1=0x0007AC3F
Code1=0x31, 0xC0, 0xBB, 0xA0, 0x78, 0x47, 0x00, 0x8B,0x4E, 0x08, 0x51, 0x50, 0x50, 0x51, 0x68, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0x00, 0x50, 0xFF, 0xD3, 0xFE, 0xC7,0x59, 0xFF, 0xD3, 0x66, 0xBB, 0x60, 0x7B, 0x59,0xFF, 0xD3, 0x31, 0xDB, 0xB3, 0x28, 0x8D, 0x7C,0xDE, 0x5C, 0x90
The values highlighted in red control the colour, and I seem to remember it being BGR instead of the usual RGB.
So, for Red, it'd be 0x00, 0x00, 0xFF
Blue = 0xFF, 0x00, 0x00
Green = 0x00, 0xFF, 0x00
I'd also hazard a guess that the 0x00 after those three might control the transparency of the text, and that changing it closer to white might make it more transparent.
(Though I've never tried it, and could be horribly wrong.)
