Round 1 Race Report:
It seems that Alfa Romeo took their first victory of the 1980 season, with Italian Bruno Giacomelli winning the first round of the season. Brabham's Nelson Piquet finishes 2nd, and McLaren's Alain Prost 3rd on his Formula One début. McLaren just wrote a history that this has ever happened. Following up is Laffite and Pironi from Ligier in 4th and 5th respectively, with Patrese from Arrows in 6th. It's a bad day for both Ferrari and Williams, as they haven't finished in the Top 6.

Round 1 Race Report:

In the first race a great advantage over the pilots of Renault. They led the peloton, and came off at a significant rate. Alfa Romeo well fought with Ferrari. As is often the case, a key role was played by the reliability of their cars. There have been many outs. Thanks to Nelson Piquet climbed up to the second line. He could win, when Giacomelli have any problems. However, the Italian held on to the finish line, and won. His partner was less lucky! Ferrari and Renault have fallen victim to technical problems.
