Bad start and lost 3 positions. Seems like we lost our hopes for a strong result, hopefully something goes good for us.
GPG Nations Cup Rd 16 Mexican GP - Race Day

Part 2

Welcome back.

We come back from the break to find McGregor and Nikolov in battle.

De Boer and Ancevski are also in battle.

It’s Ancevski that is the winner.

Silva has a commanding lead over Grimaldi.

At least Grimaldi has nothing to worry about with what’s behind him.

Kederer still has a chance to keep in title contention, but only if Pryce finishes enough positions back.

Nikolov is once again chasing down Tung.

And he succeeds in getting by.

Girard has closed in on Silvestre and could end up making a move.

Which he does though the final corner.

But Silvestre fights back though.

Rodriguez is chasing down Ihara.

The time split shows how far ahead Silva is.

Hatfield is doing all he can to try and reel in Kuei.

Tung has lost another position, this time to Tafuro.

Hatfield looks like he has the momentum to get ahead of Kuei.

Rodriguez is making a move on Ihara.

And he succeeds in getting ahead.

Pitstops are now underway.

That leaves Kederer in the race lead.

Grimaldi will need to watch himself since he has just made his stop. Last thing he wants is to damage his tyres.

In comes Kederer for his stop.

More stops are taking place.

Kederer rejoins, and now has to be careful not to damage his new tyres in an attempt to close in on Ihara.

More cars are in for their stops.

Grimaldi must be getting frustrated being stuck behind Cremasco.

Tyrson is doing his best holding off De Boer.

Even more cars are now in.

Time for another break.

Part 3

Welcome back once again.

Tyrson and De Boer are at it.

However, Pryce was able to close in and make a move of his own on Tyrson.

Tung is still in the title fight, but he needs to make it into the points if he wants to take the fight to the final round.

Silvestre is the last driver in for his stop.

Pryce looks to be doing much better in this second stint as he has now made a move on De Boer.

But De Boer fights back and takes the position back.

With all drivers having made their stop, let’s check out the standings as we ride onboard with Grimaldi.

Kuei and Ancevski are in a battle.

Tyrson goes for a move on De Boer.

And he succeeds in getting by.

It seems Ancevski succeeded in beating Kuei.

McGregor has Nikolov in his sights. However, his focus is on defending from Tafuro who sits behind him.

Ancevski now finds himself behind De Boer.

He goes for a move.

He makes it ahead, but De Boer fights back.

Tafuro has gotten ahead of McGregor, but the Australian isn’t down just yet and tries to get his position back.

Which he succeeds in doing.

Hatfield is gaining time on Grimaldi. Maybe the reigning champion has a chance to steal the final podium position before the race is over.

Ancevski has found the wall in the S corners.

That’s race over for him.

Hatfield now sits in 3rd, which means he has managed to get by Grimaldi.

Let’s check out the standings as we focus in on Silva.

With Pryce currently sitting in 5th, it’s putting him closer to securing the points he needs to ensure he can’t be touched for the title.

We can see the gap between Hatfield and Kederer.

It’s still on between Tafuro and McGregor.

Rodriguez is back behind Ihara again.

He goes for a move.

And he succeeds in getting by.

Silva is all by himself out on the track.

Behind him, the battle for the remaining podium spots is still ongoing.

Grimaldi is a bit further back, and has Pryce chasing him down.

Is this Hatfield’s chance to get by Kederer?

It is. The reigning champion has made it by the former champion.

Kederer isn’t giving up just yet and fights back down the straight.

He can’t regain the position back, so falls back in behind.

With Pryce still in 5th and chasing down Grimaldi for 4th, Hatfield’s move may have potentially ended Kederer’s title hopes.

Pryce looks like he is close enough now, and goes for a move on Grimaldi.

And he gets ahead of the Monaco driver.

The battle for the final spots in the top 10 is getting quite intense.

Tung’s title hopes continue to slip away from him. He needs a points finish to keep his title hopes alive.

Let’s check out the standings once again.

Time for our final break of the coverage. When we return, we’ll be going through to the end.

GPG Nations Cup Rd 16 Mexican GP - Race Day

Part 4

Welcome back for the final time.

Not too many laps left to go for Silva.

Grimaldi now finds himself under pressure from Tyrson.

Kuei will be feeling thankful she doesn’t have to worry about what is going on behind her.

Hatfield’s pace in the second stint is really good.

5 laps left, but the question is this: can Hatfield close in on Silva before the race comes to its end?

If Tyrson stays as close as he is to Grimaldi, he may have a chance to make a move.

He stayed close, and now has his chance to make a move.

He succeeds in getting by Grimaldi. Meanwhile, the timing shows how the top 10 have moved.

Only 3 laps left to go.

Hatfield continues to gain more time on Silva, and increase the gap between himself and Kederer.

Keranen has managed to close in on Tung.

He goes for a move down the straight.

He couldn’t get ahead at the first corner, but Keranen isn’t giving up yet.

In the end, Tung is able to keep hold of his position.

Keranen however was able to stay close enough to Tung and now tries again to get ahead.

Again Tung holds his position.

It’s been a fantastic race by Silva here today.

He comes through the final corner for the last time.

And he takes the chequered flag to win the Mexican GP. He’ll be very pleased with this result.

Hatfield takes 2nd.

Kederer rounds off the podium with 3rd.

Pryce finishes 4th and gains 7pts, putting his lead out to 13pts over Tung. With this, it officially leaves just 2 contenders left for the championship: Wales and China.

The race has now come to a close. Congratulations Paulo Silva and Team Portugal, the winners of Rd 16. It’s been quite some time since his last victory in Nations Cup, so he and the team will no doubt be extremely pleased with this result. One final round left to go before we crown the Season 5 Nations Cup champion. We are down to 2 contenders left: Team Wales and Team China with 13pts separating them. It should make for a fantastic end to the season, so it’s something to look forward to. Anyways, that’s it from Mexico City. We hope you enjoyed our coverage, and we hope to see you all back here again when we bring you our coverage of Rd 17. So until then, it’s goodbye.

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Finally the much wanted, and needed, 2nd win comes...
After 5 seasons (Yes, we are here since the beginning :)) we know it's a very low average races/wins, so you can imagine how much this race means to the team's motivation.
Portugal first win was in Imola, in Season 3, so tonight we're inviting all the paddock to celebrate with us.

-----------------------------------------------------

Not bad at all, but shame to be out of title contention.

Congrats Paulo, long overdue imo

5th place, good result for Ireland but still happy with it. Bad start cost us a chance for a podium.
damn, i forgot to send the boost in the proper time, and now we're out of the title race

Not the race we expected, slipping down the field in our second stint.
Congrats to Portugal and Silva for their win.

Team China

Terrible race for us. No pace, and on top of that Wales keep taking advantage of our lack of pace by scoring a handful of points. Guess it's over for us now and we have to try and secure 2nd in the standings.

Shame really, couldn't make up any of the deficits in qualifying through the race.
Terrible race.

Another solid points haul has put us in a GREAT position for the title. A clean run in the final round should hopefully be enough to scrape home! (H)

Great job Greg with the coverage again (Y)
