GPG Nations Cup S5 R17 - Off-season

Thanks to the unsafe rejoin of the Portugal car, it has cost us our chance of scoring points here today. Cheng was committed in the corner and had no way to avoid contact. If Silva had waited before rejoining, then that could've prevented the crash from happening. Now we have to hope that we can get the points we need in the next race, because if we don't then that will mean our championship hopes will be over.

Kind of race I'd have loved to watch. Race of attrition. Not too unhappy to retire, as not much boost was really wasted. Perhaps a chance for some careful drivers to earn good points

Lots of action so far. Hatfield keeping his nose clean, time to bring it home.
GPG Nations Cup Rd 15 Canadian GP - Race Day

Part 3

Welcome back for the final time.

Ancevski can see just how much ground he needs to make up to have a chance to challenge Pryce for 2nd.

Meanwhile, Hatfield is all alone. That makes the race his to win or lose.

Kederer has plenty of space between himself and Nikolov.

It’s been a terrible race for Cremasco. Having started from pole, he would’ve hoped to be inside the top 3 instead of 6th.

Grimaldi now finds himself all alone as well.

Rodriguez would not have been expecting to be in a points position at all in this race, so he’ll be hoping that nothing goes wrong for him.

Tyrson is in the pits again. The report from the Irish driver is Brake Failure.

Let’s take a look at the current standings once again.

This seems to be the only battle taking place currently.

Also in battle is Cremasco and Grimaldi.

Grimaldi has a look up the inside.

But he is unable to get by this time.

Grimaldi tries again to get by.

He still can’t get by.

Ancevski looks to have gained ground on Pryce.

This could be the chance Grimaldi needs to get by.

Tyrson has closed in on Rodriguez and now has a chance to get by.

It’s getting closer between Ancevski and Pryce.

McGregor is under pressure from Kuei.

Kuei goes for a move, but is unable to get ahead.

Ancevski continues to close in on Pryce.

Kuei has another passing attempt on McGregor.

Grimaldi had succeeded in getting by Cremasco and now Girard wants his chance to get by.

It’s still on between Kuei and McGregor.

The timing shows how the top 10 have moved since race start. So far, Rodriguez has had the drive of the day.

It’s only a matter of time before Kuei succeeds in getting by McGregor, but will she get it done before the race ends?

Ancevski is also running out of time to make his move.

And same again with Girard.

Girard goes for a move.

And he gets it done.

Cremasco fights back though and could regain the position back.

It looks like Kuei has managed to get ahead of McGregor. And according to the split, it would seem likely that McGregor ran wide somewhere which allowed Kuei to get by.

With only a few laps left, let’s take one final look at the standings.

Not much longer to go for Hatfield.

Final lap.

Kederer has been alone for most of the last few laps.

Nikolov can’t take it easy though as he has Grimaldi closing in on him.

Grimaldi goes for a move, but can’t make it by.

It’s been a fantastic race for Hatfield here today. He had to fight to get by Cremasco early on, but once he got the lead he never one looked back.

He takes the chequered flag and wins the Canadian GP.

Pryce takes 2nd.

Ancevski rounds off the podium with 3rd.

It looks like Grimaldi has managed to get ahead of Nikolov.

Congratulations Gerard Hatfield and Team UAE, the winner of Rd 15. They’ve had a very tough season as defending champion, but today they showed that they still have what it takes to do well if given a chance to do so. The biggest moment of the race has to be the moment when Cheng Tung retired. He had a chance to score some points here today, but that was cruelly taken away from him when he had nowhere to go when Paulo Silva rejoined after running off the track. He, as well as the team, will be gutted by this and hopefully this will be motivation to try and do better in the next round. Anyways, that wraps up our coverage here at Watkins Glen. We hope you enjoyed our coverage and we’ll see you all back here again for Rd 16 and the penultimate round. So until then, it’s goodbye.

5th isnt bad but just not the best possible result. We wanted a podium finish.
Survived the crash-fest. Would've preferred a podium though.

Happy to finish in 6th, but our aim was a podium finish with our boost.

Ah well, 3rd is still good for us

Oh boy, 8th after a pole, a race to forget, at least we score some points

Fastest Laps

That was astonishing. Although knowing that behind us laid a car carnage, to survive it and drive the wheels out of the car to the top 10, unboosted and starting last, is massive. Here's hoping that we can finish this season on a high and aim even higher on S6.

Stats: 139 Starts / 7 Wins / 9 Poles / 5 Fastest laps
Team China

Can't believe our luck so far in these recent races. We just don't have the speed to stay in the points, and that's why we ended up losing the championship lead to Wales. As they say, if you don't have a fast car then you'll never be able to win a championship. So we need to prove that our pace and results in the first half of the season were no fluke, and we only have two rounds left to do so. We really don't want a case of so near yet so far.

Full boost and out of points, a disaster once again

I known that feeling... :(

Team Ireland

We finished 9th and it looks like a good race for Ireland. There was an issue with the brakes and Tyrson came to the pits to solve it. Although we did our best and 9th was decent result.

6pts difference. The battle between ourself and Wales is really heating up now. We have no choice but to finish ahead of them in both of the last two rounds. Otherwise, that will mean championship over for us and we don't want to see that.

As for who is still in contention, with 24pts + 4pts (for Pole and Fastest Lap points) up for grabs in the last two rounds, any team that is more than 28pts behind Wales is now out of contention. So that leaves us with 6 contenders left to see who will end up as champion for Season 6. Should be interesting to see how these final rounds will turn out for sure.

Lastly, in regards to RD duty, I plan to run the final round so if anyone else can step up and run Rd 16 that would be very helpful.
