The Final Results

Kuei found the wall early on in the session.

Girard and Silvestre found themselves in strife.

Congratulations Maikel De Boer and Team Netherlands, the pole sitter for the season finale. Be sure to join us again when we bring you the coverage of the race.

Team China

13th. Not what we were hoping for to keep our bid for the title alive. Now we have to hope for fastest lap and the race win to win the title, but for that to happen we need Wales to get 0pts. And the chances of that happening are pretty slim since they are ahead of us. Also, Germany are ahead and have a chance to take 2nd away from us, so we have a lot on our hands to deal with. Even if we finish the season in 3rd, it'll still be our best season to date.

It is going to be tough race for Team Bulgaria. Nothing to surprise us, though.
11th... More or less what we expected.

Hoping for better in the race day.

GPG Nations Cup Rd 17 Brazilian GP – Race Day

Part 1

Hello and welcome back to Interlagos. Today is the day we crown our new champion as Season 5 comes to an end. We have two contenders left: Team Wales and Team China. For China to win the title, they have to score 13pts through taking both the win and fastest lap. However, they also need Wales to come out of this race with 0pts. For Wales though, they only need to score 1pt here today to win the title should China manage to get the 13pts they need. Outside of the title battle, 2nd and 3rd place in the standings is also up for grabs, so today’s race is really going to be a cracker for sure. Anyways, the cars can be heard returning from their warmup lap so it’s time now to head trackside for the start.

Weather Report

Here we go. The cars are lined up on the grid after returning from the warmup lap, and we are set for a start. De Boer took pole in qualifying yesterday and will start from the front row. Alongside him is Kuei. When the 5 lights go out, the race is on for the final time this season.

They’re off for the final time!

Cremasco made a decent start, and is challenging Kuei for 2nd on the run down to Turn 4.

And the Brazilian gets ahead.

Girard is next in line to take on Kuei.

Tyrson has managed to get ahead of Grimaldi.

As the timing shows, Ihara has managed to get ahead of Pryce. With that move, it now sees both of the championship contenders close to each other.

At the rear of the field, Silvestre has lost a position to Ancevski.

De Boer sets the first fastest lap of the race.

Grimaldi is trying his best to retake the position back from Tyrson.

He failed to get by, and as a result has allowed the cars behind to close in on him.

McGregor has managed to get ahead of Grimaldi, and Silva could soon get by as well.

Three wide down the straight. Someone has got to give.

They all manage to get away with it. Grimaldi was able to keep Silva behind him, but he won’t be happy to have lost the position to McGregor.

We seem to be having a train starting to form.

Silva looks to be offline.

He runs wide and off the track. He needs to be careful now as he attempts to rejoin.

Pryce manages to avoid contact, but Tung is forced to lockup to avoid contact.

We have a yellow flag out because of this incident, and the biggest loser out of all this is Tung. The Chinese driver will most definitely not be a happy man right now.

Silva manages to get going again.

Tung on the other hand lost a chunk of positions thanks to Silva’s rejoin. His chance at winning the title may now be all over for him, and his 2nd place in the standings is also at risk at being taken.

Back at the front now, and Cremasco looks close enough to De Boer to try for a potential passing move. For Cremasco, he has a chance to snatch 2nd in the championship but only if he can win this race.

Further back, McGregor looks close enough to Tyrson to go for a move.

He succeeds in getting ahead.

We could have a lead change here.

And indeed we do. Cremasco now leads the Brazilian GP and the crowd has exploded into cheers.

Today is the final appearance of Team France as we know it as team manager Glen Sheppard has recently announced he will be changing nations for Season 6. Girard will be doing his best to try and take home a podium here today.

Kederer currently sits in 5th. He probably knows that had it not been for a few DNFs earlier in the season while in a good position for solid points, he could’ve been challenging for a 2nd Nations Cup crown. At least he has a chance to take 2nd in the standings.

Unseen by the camera, Grimaldi has managed to regain the position back from Tyrson.

Also being seen today for the final time as we know it is Team Japan. Ihara will be doing her best to try and bring home a points finish.

As we ride onboard with Pryce, the timing shows that Cremasco has taken the fastest lap. Let’s check out the standings as well.

Ihara has managed to get ahead of Tyrson.

Now Pryce has a chance to go for a move.

Cremasco is clearly showing great pace here today.

The battle for the remaining spots on the podium is still ongoing though.

De Boer can still see Cremasco just ahead of him, so it’s not over yet in regards to the lead.

It’s taken him awhile, but now Pryce is close enough to make his move on Tyrson.

And he succeeds in getting ahead.

This is awkward for Tyrson. Just like Silva earlier, he has gone wide and off the track. Will it end the same though?

Fortunately, he is able to continue on without losing any positions.

However, he now has to deal with both Nikolov and Tafuro.

For Hatfield, the season has been kind of miserable for him as defending champion, but he has shown what the car is capable of in recent rounds. He’ll be reverting back to #10 in Season 6.

This doesn’t look good for Hatfield.

He’s very lucky to have kept it out of the fence.

He continues on, but now has to worry about Ancevski closing in on him.

The lead continues to increase with every lap.

Girard is getting closer to Kuei. We could see a move being made by the Frenchman soon.

Here it is. Girard makes his move on Kuei into Turn 1.

Girard succeeded in getting ahead, and now Kuei has to defend from Kederer.

Kuei manages to hold Kederer back, but now both Keranen and McGregor have closed in to make this battle even more interesting.

As we head into our first break of the coverage, let’s check out the current standings once again.

We’ll see you all back here again very soon.

Team China

Think that's our chance at the championship crown gone thanks to Silva's rejoin. And now we are at risk of losing not one, but two positions thanks to Brazil being in the lead and Germany being in a position that will give them 4 or more pts. Race isn't over yet though, so we may still be able to hold onto 2nd.

Crap! Another miserable drive mistake.... :(

-----------------------------------------------------

Team Wales
The stress!!

Pleased to have taken 10th to secure a point for the moment which will seal the championship, let's hang onto it! Bring it on home Tommy!!

Hard luck for Tung and China.
