GPG Nations Cup S5 R17 - Off-season

Team China

Yet another terrible qualifying for us while our rivals have a much better one. Think our run as championship leader will be ending this weekend for sure if Cheng fails to get points.

3rd!!! :O

Team Ireland

16th place looks like it wasn't a great position we've wanted but we'll take it. The race could be difficult for us from now on, which I think it's going to be a lot of work for us through this.

Decent qualifying. Let's translate it in a good haul of points.

Crap! Even with full boost only manage a 12th spot in the grind.

Changes needed for next season in our team....

Team Uruguay

I guess I'll take 8th, seeing that over half of the field had 400 boost or more.

Also removed Scotland and Canada from the quali coverage, since they won't be in the race.

Tried video coverage, but the outcome was the same as the last time so decided to go with screenshots. However, the screens failed to save so now I have to run the race again for a 3rd time. 3rd time lucky I guess, so hopefully I don't have the screens failing to save for me again.

Well if people would actually listen to me when I tell them to test things beforehand, those troubles could be avoided. Just saying.

Also you don't have to record a whole race to see if it works. Do a quickrace, record 1min of it, and see if it's fine. If it is, go on to the main event.

GPG Nations Cup Rd 15 Canadian GP – Race Day

Part 1

Hello and welcome back to Watkins Glen as we get set for the race to get underway. Nathan Cremasco took the pole position yesterday, and could potentially put himself right back into championship contention. But he’ll need to watch out for those behind him as they try and gain themselves some championship points. Scotland and Canada will not be taking part in the race, so we have ourselves a 20 car grid here today. The cars can be heard returning from the warmup lap, so let’s head trackside as we get set for the start.

Weather Report

Here we go. All the cars are lined up, and we are set for the start. Cremasco has pole, and next to him is the reigning champion Hatfield. Who will win the lead into the first corner? We’ll find out once the lights go out.

They’re off!

It looks like Cremasco has managed to convert pole into a early lead.

Ancevski goes for a move on Hatfield.

He wasn’t able to get by, and now finds himself having to defend from Pryce and the rest of the train.

Pryce tries for a move on Ancevski but isn’t quite close enough yet to get by.

As Cremasco takes the fastest lap, Kederer is seen going for a move on De Boer.

And the German succeeds in getting ahead.

McGregor has a look up the inside of Tyrson. Just ahead, Ihara is going for a move on Keranen.

Keranen is off the track and looks to be in major trouble.

A wheel has been knocked off the Finland car, indicating that Keranen has clipped the wall.

That’s race over for Keranen.

Rodriguez is currently in last place. He’ll be hoping for some luck if he is to work his way up through the field.

Just ahead, Ana is doing his best to chase down McGregor.

Hatfield now has the fastest lap.

Tung goes for a move on Silva as Nikolov watches on behind.

It looks like Tung failed to get by, which has allowed Nikolov to run alongside in an attempt to get by.

Nikolov managed to get ahead, but Tung now wants the position back. As we ride onboard, the timing shows how the top 10 have moved since race start.

In regards to the championship standings, as things stand now it would see Pryce and Team Wales become the new championship leader.

Unseen by the cameras, Hatfield has managed to get by Cremasco for the lead.

De Boer looks to be struggling. He has Kederer and Grimaldi chasing him down and both look to be close enough to make a move.

Kederer makes his move and gets by in the first corner, and Grimaldi also tries to get by as well.

Ihara is in pitlane with a wheel completely missing.

Replay shows that Ihara had gone off at the final corner and hit the wall hard, resulting in the wheel being torn from the car.

Also off is Ana. At least he gets to continues on.

A train is forming behind Kuei, and it’s allowing McGregor to slowly close in on it.

The confirmation of Ihara’s retirement is shown on the timings.

Another car is in the wall at the final corner, and this time it’s De Boer. That’s a cruel blow to his championship hopes.

As a result of De Boer’s crash, it has scattered the cars that were behind him. Kuei is at risk of being passed by both Silva and Tung.

Kuei manages to hold her position.

Silvestre has gone really far back, and it’s probably due to the smoke billowing out of the rear of his car. That may explain why De Boer went into the wall before.

Three wide down the straight. Someone has to yield to avoid a potential crash.

They manage to get through without contact being made. Meanwhile, the timing confirms De Boer’s retirement.

Silvestre finally brings the car to a stop and retires from the race.

Hatfield still leads, and has a decent gap between himself and the battle taking place between Cremasco and Pryce.

Tafuro has gone off and into the wall. That’s another retirement here today.

Replay shows how he went in.

That’s a very close call for Kuei at the final corner.

She continues on, but has lost a bunch of positions.

Looks like we are going to see them go three wide once again.

Thankfully they avoid making contact and are able to continue on.

Hatfield’s lead looks to be increasing with each lap.

It’s still on behind him though between Cremasco and Pryce.

Pryce goes for a move down the inside on the straight.

And he succeeds in getting ahead.

Cremasco wants to get the position back and goes for the inside line down the straight. Meanwhile, Ancevski is waiting for his chance to make a move.

Further back, Kederer is doing his best to try and close in so that he may have a chance to make a move.

It’s been a pretty quiet race for Girard.

Ancevski goes for his move on Cremasco.

But he wasn’t able to get by.

He tries again down the main straight.

Again Cremasco manages to hold his position.

The battle is allowing Kederer to close in on them.

Ancevski finally gets ahead of Cremasco, leaving the Brazilian to now defend from Kederer.

With the race almost 10 laps in, let’s take a look at the standings.

Time for our first break of the coverage. We hope to see you all back here again soon.

Team China

Tough race so far for Cheng, but we have hope that he can keep close to the points positions to take advantage should those ahead falter. But with Wales in the top 3, that's not good for us in regards to the standings in the championship.

Portugal has been able to climb through the field, but with the full boost in the race there are room for some improvement, hopefully...

-----------------------------------------------------

Team UAE

So far so good with pulling a small lead in 1st place. Just need to concentrate and make no silly errors and we could have some decent points in the bag.
Team Ireland

Great start and we're in 10th. Hopefully we don't get caught out of the race as well as others.

GPG Nations Cup Rd 15 Canadian GP - Race Day

Part 2

Welcome back.

We return to find Kuei attempting a passing move on McGregor.

She couldn’t get through, and that has allowed Rodriguez to close in.

Ana sits in 15th, but is really struggling thanks to his inactive penalty.

Hatfield still leads.

Kederer continues to chase down Cremasco.

Grimaldi has closed in on Kederer. Perhaps the German lost some momentum through the first corner which allowed Grimaldi to close in.

Silva looks to be all on his own in 8th.

It’s not looking too good for Tung as he currently sits in 11th and outside of the points.

It’s still on between McGregor and Kuei.

Kuei goes for a move up the inside.

She makes the move easily as McGregor has gone off.

McGregor was lucky to keep it out of the fence, and is able to continue on.

Grimaldi is starting to feel the pressure from Girard.

Girard goes for his move.

But he is unable to get by.

It looks like Kederer has managed to get ahead of Cremasco.

That now leaves him at risk of being passed by Grimaldi.

He goes for a move, but fails to get by and allows Girard to close in.

Ancevski is doing all he can to try and close in on Pryce.

Kederer is the first driver in for his stop as the pitstops get underway.

Grimaldi tries again to get by Cremasco.

He fails to make it through, and as a result has allowed Girard and Silva to close in.

Girard has managed to get by Grimaldi.

Ana is also in for his stop.

Kederer rejoins in 13th. He’ll be hoping that he won’t be the one to lose out by being the first in.

It’s a very close battle between these three.

More drivers are in.

Pryce rejoins ahead of Ancevski.

Cremasco rejoins even further back.

Nikolov and Silva rejoin behind him.

McGregor is in.

Hatfield is in from the race lead.

So too is Girard.

Grimaldi is in right behind him.

Tung is in as well.

Hatfield rejoins in 2nd.

Kuei is in for her stop.

Kederer has found himself behind Rodriguez. He needs to be careful passing as the Uruguay car still needs to make a stop.

Girard and Grimaldi rejoin in the order they went in for their stops.

Tung rejoins in 12th. If he is to have any hope of retaining the championship lead, he needs to be in a points position, but it’s just not happening for him.

Tyrson pits from the lead.

Rodriguez is in as well.

Tyrson has rejoined from taking his stop, and finds himself defending from Girard. Ahead of them, Grimaldi is looking to make a move on Silva.

It looks like Silva is in trouble in the exact same way as what happened to Keranen earlier.

Silva keeps it off the wall and rejoins, but he rejoins right in front of Tung.

With nowhere to go, contact is made and that results in a wheel being ripped from both cars. The impact wipes both cars from the race and guarantees that we will see a new championship leader come the end of this race.

Ana comes through, but he can’t avoid the debris and loses his front wing.

As a result, he is unable to take the corner and ends up running off the track and into the wall, losing a wheel in the progress.

Replay shows the moments of impact.

Ana brings the car to a stop. It’s been a miserable season for sure for the Singapore team.

Hatfield comes through the accident zone and needs to be careful not to run into any remaining debris.

Pryce comes through and can surely see the stricken China car off to the side of the track. He now knows that the championship lead is his to take so long as he makes it to the finish.

Tyrson still has Girard behind him.

Now that all cars have made their stop, let’s check out the current standings.

Time for another break. When we return, we’ll go to the end of the race so be sure to join us back here again soon.
