Windows 10 and gp4

Hello guys,as today I've got a message from microsoft saying if I wanted to reserve my copy of windows 10 and I did,I was wondering if some of you already have some information about it,will it be possible to run gp4 on windows 10 like with windows 7 set compatibility with csm and gp4.exe and boom it works fine?Or is it gonna be difficult or impossible?Thanks

There will be no difference afaik. Look up what's new in Win10 for more info.

Ok thanks mate,I had a look on the website and it doesn't saying anything about compatibility,so I don't know does gp4 work fine on windows 8 as well?

Ok! I read some of the former comments, but I still can't run GP4 on my 64bits Windows 10. It installs ok, as does gpxpatch 4.4.4, but when I strat the game it crashes out and doesn't start. My video card is a radeon and my system is an AMD with 16 gb memory. Could it be the graphics card is not compatible, as it is not listed on the tested cards in the read.me file?

Do I need special tools to make it work, if so where do I find those and which ones should I install?

I forgot to mention that my GP4 is version 1.00. Do I need version 1.02? If so, where can I download that version to upgrade it?

Edit: I found the patch and now run on version 1.02.

Looks like you don't run it as administrator.

Gp4.exe compability Windows XP SP2.

I was sure I had. I'll try removing it and start over again. The next answer says to run it with Windows XP SP2, I'll try that also. I'll post back either way, hopefully it will be a success post.

Now it asks for Direct X 8.1, Windows 10 runs Direct X 12.

Same log report as before from gpxpatch, so I ran it without it, that's when it said I had to install Direct X 8.1

I ran it with compatibility Windows XP SP2 and as Administrator

From memory you can install Dx8 safely even if you have a newer version of it. It won't uninstall the Dx12 but it will update your install with the required Dx8.

I tried to install Dx8, but it just won't install it. It brings me back to the desktop without installing it. I guess I'll scratch my hopes of playing the game again. Freaking Microsoft and Win10. I uninstalled my Bitdefender, I followed all the suggestions you guys generously gave me, but alas, it's the death of GP4 for me.

Edit : This version of DirectX is not compatible with the Windows version presently installed. (Translated from French)

I installed my GP4 on a PC with an older Windows, 7 or Vista, copied the folder to my Win10 PC and it worked
Maybe that could work for you to?

I have Windows 10 installed on my second laptop and The game runs perfectly.... The first one runs with 8.1 also without any issue.
Did you move your GP4 folder elsewhere than your program file folder?
This is something you have to do since Seven and which looks mandatory....
