F1 Manager

This series (originally established by Chris 2k6) gives 11 lucky players the chance to guide a Formula One team to success, whether it be Ferrari or Minardi. The game started in the 2003 season and has already developed greatly thanks to the choices each manager has made. Also real life events will come in to play, such as Red Bull wanting to take over Jaguar etc but, that doesn’t guarantee you success. Managers will also have to negotiate contracts with drivers and engine suppliers along with making many other decisions along the way.

At the start teams were randomly assigned between the applicants. Here is the current entry list:

- Driver Bias/ Number One Drivers

- Prior to a race weekend each team manager can nominate one of their two race drivers to be their 'Number 1 Driver' for that race weekend, by sending a pm to the F1_Manager account stating their preferred driver.

- By selecting to prioritizing one driver managers can reallocate performance points from their second driver and award them to their chosen driver as follows:

For example, a teams perf is as follows:

[Team #XX]
Name=N/A,
Performance=800,800,1000
First Driver=11,Driver A,15000,100,15000,100
Second Driver=12,Driver B,15000,100,15000,100

If the manager of Team XX were to nominate Driver A as his number 1 driver, and boost his perf by 50 points, the perf would look like this:

[Team #XX]
Name=N/A,
Performance=800,800,1000
First Driver=11,Driver A,15050,100,15050,100

- Teams who produce their own engines such as Ferrari, Renault, Toyota, Honda and BMW and those who are long time customers in real life aka McLaren, will receive a 2% bonus instead.

- This system is also extended to Brake Manufacturers as well with all teams receiving a 5% bonus here.

B) Driver Performances

- Performance points are awarded to the top 15 finishers in all three sessions during a race weekend.

F1 Budgets

Engine/Brake Manufacturers

- Each team must sign an engine and brake supplier each season.

- Ferrari, Renault, Toyota, Honda and BMW all have the option to stick with their traditional engine providers, however all other teams must bid for their desired engine in the same way managers bid for drivers

- Managers bid for engine suppliers in the same way they do for drivers, the only requirement is that they must better the the minimum contract offer.

- At the present time, engine deals may only be signed for a single season.

- There are no limitations to the number of teams each brake manufacturer can supply.

- Each engine and brake type has a reliabilty and a BHP setting which is chosen at random from within a specific range at the start of each season.

Drivers Market

- Each team must have at least three drivers, but can also sign a second test driver if they so wish.

- Drivers will be ready at random times throughout the season for contract negotiations,

- Each team must have at least three drivers (2 race drivers, 1 test/third driver), but can also sign a second test driver if they so wish.

- Once a driver becomes available for contract negotiations send a pm to the F1_Manager account with your offer and for which driver you wish to sign.

- Drivers will begin to accept offers two races after they first become open for contract negotiations. If a driver has no offer by this point they will remain available for contract talks and will accept contracts on a race by race basis.

Terminating Contracts

- Managers are able to terminate any of their drivers contracts at any time.

- There is no fee for terminating drivers on one year deals as their salary has already been paid in full

- If a manager wishes to release the driver after one year they must pay the fee the driver in question would normally receive for a one year contract. For example:

Driver X's contract prices are as follows:

1 year contract: $15.000.000,00
2 year contract: $25.000.000,00
3 year contract: $30.000.000,00

The fee for the driver by a 3 year deal is $10m a season. So after one season he as been paid $10m, thus in order to release him you must pay a total of $15m (1 year contract fee). Therefore the manager must pay £5m to make up the difference.

- If the manager has already paid more than the required fee to terminate the contract, no extra fee must be paid and no refund will be rewarded.

- When terminating contracts, the price the manager must pay is determined by the driver in questions contract prices from the season when he first signed to his team.

WCC Rewards

- Teams will receive the following rewards at the end of the season according to where they finish.

- However, unlike Formula One, GP2 Managers have a choice of three engine manufacturers to choose from – Ferrari, Mercedes and Renault

- Of these engines, Mercedes is the most powerful but is also the least reliable, Renault is the least powerful but the most reliable and Ferrari sits in the middle. Each engine also costs £5,000,000

- There is no limit to the number of teams each engine manufacturer can supply.

- Each brake supplier has a reliabilty and a BHP setting which is chosen at random from within a specific range at the start of each season.

Drivers Market

- Each team is required to have two drivers both as a minimum and as a maximum.

- Drivers will be ready at random times throughout the season for contract negotiations.

- Both F1 teams and GP2 teams may bid on drivers in GP2 and F1 however, regardless of how much money is involved, drivers will always prioritize an F1 seat over a GP2 seat.

- Sister teams and loaning of drivers between the series are strictly not allowed.

- GP2 teams may only sign drivers on 1 year contracts. Should no F1 teams wish to sign your drivers for the following season, you will be given an opportunity to resign your drivers before they are re-added to the marketplace.

Current Drivers Available:

TBA

WCC Reward

- Teams will receive the following rewards at the end of the season according to where they finish.

As you can see the OP's are now done and should be fully updated, although I still need to add in the team managers. If you spot anything else missing or incorrect let me know!

Also, since it's been a while I'd recommend re-reading the rules to get yourself back up to date and just make things a tad easier all the new rules for 2007 are highlighted in red (Y)

For the F1 managers I don't need anything else right now, all that needs finishing there are the texture updates although considering we're going for mostly results only coverages that's not of immediate importance.

For the GP2 managers I'd doubly recommend reading your set of rules in the 2nd post as there are some significant differences to the F1 rules in there. In addition teams have been allocated as follows:

Super Nova Racing - natasp
Trident Racing - Bandon23
Durango - giomich
Minardi Piquet Sports - Twigster151
BCN Competition - smoglessbutton4
DAMS - xSilvermanx
Racing Engineering - Pedersen

Feel free to switch around teams if you can strike a deal with another manager or even to jump into one of the currently free four teams :)

Finally you'll also find your team budgets, the list of available drivers for 2007 as well as the brake and engine manufacturers in the GP2 OP.

You will all need two race drivers, an engine supplier and a brakes suppliers for the start of the season. Bare in mind, as I think this somewhat has been forgotten in the past, as all the drivers above are new drivers, every driver on that list has the exact same perf values regardless of their IRL performances. To make things fair I'll wait until everyone has submitted their bids before selecting my drivers. Remember to send bids into the F1_Manager account!

For anyone dropping by there are still manager slots available in GP2, hopefully by know you've been reassured that this is actually happening this time! ;)

Can I switch to David Price Racing please? ;)

Super Nova Racing has reached an agreement with Mercedes and AP Racing, and we're already pursuing our drivers for the upcoming season

- Under 2) Performances in F1, you're still talking about pre-seasons testing plans, which don't exist anymore.

- The Driver Bias option only makes sense to me, if the managers actually know the driver perfs of their drivers (which they haven't in the past).

- " Each engine and brake type has a reliabilty and a BHP setting which is chosen at random from within a specific range at the start of each season." Does that mean that having paid the for the priciest Ferrari engine still could result in the worst engine? I didn't understand it like this before bidding last season.

Ah yeah my bad, thought I had eradicated all traces of that ;)

Forgot to add in the OP that each manager will receive the exact perf values of both their cars and their drivers, in addition to where they rank against other teams and drivers just like I used to do before Test Sessions. So that will solve that problem :)

Each engine has a range of BHP values at the beginning of the season that it can produce which varies according to how expensive the engine is. For example your Ferrari engine can add anything between 100-90 extra BHP whereas the now defunct Cosworth would have added somewhere between 55-45 BHP. Theoretically in the worst possible scenario your Ferrari engine would be the 2nd best engine by 1 or 2 BHP.

Perhaps I haven't worded it that clearly in the OP, I'll have another crack at it ;)

Jack, can I be added into the mixer for GP2 please?

I'd really, really like ART ;)

Can I not suggest that GP2 instead follow its own calendar as well?

Races: 163 - Wins: 23 - Pole Positions: 24 - Fastest Laps: 22
Season 9: Constructors' Champions

No problem Dan I'll add you in tonight when I get hold of my laptop :)

For now just send your pick of two drivers and an engine and brake supplier to the F1_Manager account (Y)

Also I appreciate that from a realism point of view it'd be nice to follow the actual GP2 calendar but in practice the problem with that is is that you guys could be waiting 2-3 weeks at a time for some on track action. So in the interest of keeping things alive and kicking in here, I think this is the best alternative :)

Michael Schumacher is Renault's number 1 driver.
That's understandable then in that case mate.

I'll fire my information across to you tonight. Hope I have a touch more luck with drivers this time around than I did in the previous GP2 Series ;)

Could I put my hand up for a GP2 team? ***Fingers crossed for Arden... I am Christian Horner***
Toro Rosso drivers haven't been updated on the op.
Rubens should be driver 1 and Franck driver 2.

Nearly missed the new thread -is it worth adding a post to the old thread linking to the new one before getting it closed. Also would be good to get this thread pinned.

Thanks. Looking forward to as great season, rule changes seem OK to me. Is out worth saying how many days between perfs being sent and the deadline for boosts etc?
Are the remaining budgets that can be used for updates going to be posted.
