In first all I apologize for my OT I found online a testimony of Gp 5, which speaks openly of a short release but 'already' a few months of that talks about this, (December 2012) of a person who worked in Portugal for the games and the release of Gp 5, seemed a done deal, only that there were problems with the FIA and Infogrames. The contract and licenses, were already 'ready, everything was already' ended and now it seemed a done deal, then it all came to nothing more than ........ all true? Or where is the house of the truth?

I can't say I've heard much about this, but Codemasters have the sole license from Bernie until at least after 2015, so even if it is true they can't officially release it

I don't know, where the problems are. If the users are able to make own cars, own performance files and own tracks we do not need a license ;-).

I also never heard about a GP5-project ;-). So I wouldn't be too surprised, if there even has never been any work on GP5 ;-).

I heard about the gp5 rumour- someone from portugal already back in 2004-2005 lol but they were gone down because Geoff Grammond did quit making f1-games etc.

Aha truee, it just means that without any of the licenses, in the official release the cars would have to be plain colours and the the drivers would have to be called Steven Fetal driving a Rod Bell and similar ;)

Something like that or even without it. A blank template to make performances/cars/tracks from scratch would be completely enough. The only thing needed is a well written source code + the needed tools to create above named things ;-).

But this is offtopic anyway, because we won't get something like that, as we also won't get GP5 ;-).

Oh yes, we expect a very bug-ful game (Y).

Else I would be disappointed and SDI would be work-less xD.

Here´s the truth:

GP5

Read the Crammond-interview already 5,000 times. And there hasn't been any news since then.

BTW:
Some of you are really excited about a possible GP5, but would a realease of GP5 really be that great as everyone thinks?
1. GP5 wouldn't have the official FIA-license.
2. A GP5-release would destroy the whole GP4-community.
3. We cannot expect the game to be without bugs. So we would have to play a game with lots of bugs in it for many years until SDI would be able to fix all of them.
4. In GP5 it would be very difficult to create mods, for sure.
5. Same for track editing, costums physics, new cars and so on.

So, as a result I don't see a possible GP5-release only as good. Crammond's physics are so realistic, they are out of reach. But his programs a buggy as hell ;-). At least the whole community would have to start from zero.

I my opinion I don't see a point of a GP5. For me, the question is this; What would we actually want improving from the game we have today..? We have beautiful cars and tracks, we have 20 seasons of mods, we have almost everything..! Maybe knock-out qualifying and ability to race 20 tracks in a season... Other than that, what we have now is pretty perfect, that's why we're all still playing it after more than a decade!

The race limit is easily overcome anyway, just use two profiles in TSM for loading tracks.

Even knock out qualifying us easily simulated, as is shown in the GP4 Manager series here at GPG.

The only thing that's ever annoyed me as there is no way to bypass it is the limit to 22 cars. It would be fantastic to be able to have grids of 26 but it just simply isn't possible and there isn't really any way to simulate that.

Different helmet shapes would also be great but really that's about all I'd change.
