Thx guys, I too hope to have them in a finished state, the only thing holding me back is good photo reference.
My enthusiam is destroyed when all i seem to be doing is searching for the right photo and not finding it.
Maybe one day I can get to a track and take the photo's I need, until then all my projects are dictated by the quality of reference I have.
That's why I have so much on my drive in an unfinished state.
I seriously need to get some photographers on board who regularly visit venues, and are prepared to take "Non-aesthetic" photo's. :-) It would save me a lot of work.

A quick session to finish the tool units off tonight. Seems Ferrari (2011) and HRT (2012) use the same boxes.

They didn't even update the LG digital flags, which have been modified since Monza 2011, so over 12 months...

Does anyone have better shots of the HRT (2011) garage tool unit ?

Here's all I can find so far.....it's the usual crap, blurry & obstructed views, and nothing in high res.

thx

Not 2011 but 2012.

Go to the manufacturer or the promotions person for the hotel. In a similar situation recently, I emailed requesting photo's for the specific purpose of building a 3D model of their hotel. Three days later, we had photos to work with. I'm not suggesting this will work every time. It is terribly time consuming searching for the perfect reference. Sometimes it would be easier or more efficient to jump on the plane and go to the venue.

Thx auscain, yes I have visited that site already, in my experience emails are usually ignored, or replied with i can't help you.
If I could afford to fly the world and take pictures, I would, but even then there would probably be restrictions on which areas a "general" photographer has access.

I have had some luck finding info, the redbull stand for instance.....

but I only found that AFTER I had made it :-), but great technical reference for modelling.

Like I already said, the only way to get decent reference is to take it yourself, but in this case, I simply don't have the time or money to do it.

Searching for reference IS time consuming, and destroys my passion for modding this game, ( posts like the one from Duffer are little gems of detail ), It's great when you find the "perfect picture" but it hardly justifies the hours and hours of searching to find it.

EDIT: I'm stuck on mobile broadband at the moment, so speeds aren't that great, probably adds to the frustration. ;-)

Enough changes for some more previews of the Ferrari garage. I switched to internal lighting for more realism. These will hopefully be baked into the final textures. :-)

Also repositioned things to give it a better wider layout.

I took some artistic license with the posters on the back wall......It was easier ;-)

Sure they should work fine, they're just meshes and textures, obviously a few more polys, but that's all. Mclaren is down the list until I find decent unobstructed views of the side walls, particularly the area where the drawers and doors are near the entrance.

I had to put Mpad & Excaliburs F150 in there :-) ...and a few reflections.

Thx Alessio, I do have literally hundreds of photos of the Mclaren Garage, the best source I found is Dave Morecambe, If there's anyone who can get my shots, he's the man ;-)

I'm going to put together some renders of the Mclaren garage and fire him a mail, I guess this stuff takes time, I need to learn a bit of patience and be prepared to do a little R & D ;-)

Thx

I did the entire 2011 section of this site last night....some very good high res shots. I'm configuring Firefox to make downloading and organising a little easier.
There are methods to make the whole process more streamlined and less hassle ;-)

Smart thing to do. You'll still have to go through them all. You should hire someone to do it for you :-)
Finger crossed my PM will make you happy.
