Atticus' Workthread - [RE-RELEASED] Updated Road Atlanta (1997) Beta - All Links on p. 1

As the title says, all my works and collaborations will be released here in this topic, in this post. Currently all of them are tracks - some beta versions, with as realistic .dats as possible and basic .gp4s, and some full-fledged circuits, albeit with only minor modifications to the original .gp4 files. They should be a good base for anyone, who is willing to improve these tracks for his or her or the community's own good.

Instead of the old lengthy post with lovely but lengthy descriptions, I rearranged things as of October 2, 2015 to provide a cleaner look and better access. Unfortunately a lot of my earlier works are now pulled down since they were not hitting my quality standards. The video previews on page 1 are now obsolete too. But don't worry, some of those projects will be back soon - in their latest versions. I'm uploading new or previously unreleased material as well. Look for the 'NEW!' and 'UPDATED!' signs.

Feel free to ask for a re-upload in a post, if links expired and you still want to download a track.

Tech tracks

These circuits are just barebones with very few things aside from what is necessary for a .dat file to work, kind of like how iRacing's so-called 'tech tracks' are. That said most of the .dats are now years in the making to make them as accurate as possible. So these tracks are for those who want a realistic experience with eyes on the road all the time.

Historical layouts in modern environment

Imagine if Mr. E would have said in 2001 that we're once again going to race on the original layouts of the classic tracks on the calendar - that we're restoring them as we've found new ways to ensure driver safety. This project plays with that idea - I kept the vanilla surroundings largely intact, but restored the initial circuit designs where it fitted the .dat boundaries.

just tested in game and very well done, with this level of dat it's very easy to create a great layout around.

.... the track is nice, but only a suggestion, the elevations are very radical, should be softer, not so abrupt, is my opinion ..........

p.s.- your vers. is actual 2012 right? I and Jorge, we are doing, the layout of brands used until 1986, the version we are doing is for my mod 82.........

the thing above happens to me on Talladega Oval. Always gets me black flag at the start ^^

apart from that: Any videos to see? Will have to try asap. So as soon as my PC is avaiable again.

absolutely brilliant! many many thanks atticus! another legendary track finally brough to GP4!

In fact the angle of the grid used to be even higher, but I was black flagged that way too, so I decided to lower the value.

One thing I did not noted is that the base of the track is Google Maps of course, and you can see that its length actually falls some 106m short of the real thing. It is not noticeable though, I think, comparing the lap with real world videos.

Edit: @xSilvermanx You should get hasbriale to compile a vid. ; ) I don't know how to do it unfortunately.
