Yeah I liked it, it's a shame it never really served its purpose and was dropped.

The Williams one was fine, as it was a one-off car trying something different, and I always applaud that.

Caterham is different as it follows what is expected to the template for 2012... and that's slightly scary, as all of a sudden, F1 will look like it's full of cars rejected from an IRL concept drive.

Mclaren car revealed a few seconds ago. Main point, no dodgy nose! Sorry for the bad quality, this is a screenshot taken from the release vid.

What I am happy about is they have not copied other teams, this looks nothing like the RBR from last year etc.

Looks like the have also changed the side pod approach from last year.

It looks like a tidy up of last years car at the moment.

Also very interesting to see where the exchusts exist, not sure if that really counts a legal as they are not on top but at the back of the side pods. I bet thats what they meant when they said they are pushing the rules and expect complaints.

The actual side pods are tiny they cut in well before the back.

I wonder what the black stuff is, that is placed from under the nose and back to the suspension mountings. It looks like some sort of advanced splitter or an air intake.

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.

It is indeed a splitter type aero device, but it's not new. Williams were the first to feature this on the 2009 car and McLaren have had this on the car since 2010.

Not a bad looking car, interesting to see the evolution from 2010 onwards.

It seems they've lost Johnnie Walker as a sponsor as well.

I have no idea why a mate of mine thinks the rear of this is just a copy of the rbr car, to me it looks nothing like it!

Black rims!!

They make the car!! It can be sh*t slow for all I care, when it looks that good, nobody will care :p!

Some nice touches. Also looks like a raise crash structure at the rear? And the rear nicely converges to make a clean looking cooling outlet above the diffuser. The Mclaren badge on the nose inlet is quite nice looking. Sidepods look a mix of Ferrari and Mclaren from last year, glad the U-pods have gone tbh. The exhaust bulge doesnt isn't great to look at it, looks a tad last min, but they know what ithey're doing I guess :p

Well that's a suitably meaningful looking car, I like it. McLaren insist that it's a "complete rework" though as andreigp4 has shown the evolution is all too clear to see. I agree with marcl that the rear is not a RBR copy, it retains a visibly shallower rake for one thing. The car like all others (except probably Marussia & HRT) will sport an upgraded areo package or few by Melbourne as well.

Also, is it me or did at one point Whitmarsh say "We're not a facsimile of Ferrari"? I admit I had a quiet titter at that remark.

Is actually quite a nice looking car shape wise, but I have to agree the livery is very bland, essentially exactly the same as the 2007 livery

However in a marketing sense it makes great sense. Mclaren have basically only had 3 liveries since the 80s if you disregard the 06 livery which was kind of a stop gap following West's departure

Expanding on Ferrari2007, I think the colors are actually kind of an homage to the classic Marlboro colors Mclaren had since the late 70's. I like the colors. But I don't know, something is amiss. The car is a little bland, there's nothing too special about it, except maybe it's super streamlined (?)

I still gotta get used to these new cars....

i like it, it looks 2012, unlike Caterham which still looks 2009

we were talking about the nose on the '04 Williams... i see some similarity...
