Providing they can pass the tests and get the car ready in time, then they may be able to do private testing, or certainly a filming day or two, to shakedown the car.

I'd imagine it's quite a stretch getting a car ready now though. Presumably it's the chassis itself which has failed the test, and it can't simply be a case of adding a few more sheets of carbon fibre to the tub. I'd guess if it's the roll-hoop test, then it's a whole lot more complicated too.

I did think it was rather worrying the lack of info about them.

In Soviet Russia, car crash YOU!

When I saw Gav's post I guessed it must be HRT who'd failed it, but it looks like they've got competition for the status of worst F1 team...

Didn't expect that. They've got some Mclaren help this year, they've had a massive recruitment drive (yet still said no to me :p!) and looked on the up. Still showing F1 on a shoe-string is not an easy thing.

The new Ferrari front wing has 5 (five) elements!

Small wonder it's a bit skittish!

Red Bull have only gone and brought a new car to Barcelona. This barely counts as an aero update!

New exhaust, moved much further back, and very much like the Sauber.

And a funky inlet, presumably feeding the diffuser.

There's also a new front wing and the vanes at the front of the sidepods have been reworked.

HRT are nearly as bad as Marussia: [www.autosport.com]

As the article states, they hope to get a 'filming' day in on Monday. At least it's a step forward...

Pfffft, they won't even make that. Even if they take the car it won't be fully ready and by the time they get it ready for it's 1st installation lap the marshalls will have gone home.

Illegal Red Bull "flex wing" mechanism known already from past two seasons broke down today (didn't turn back anymore in slower speed).

Marussia apparently plan a filming day at Silverstone on Monday or Tuesday subject to them passing the crash test.

You realise that supposed 'flexi-wing' actually bent down from the centre to the end plates, not from back to front, right?

Angling the wing like that would have zero benefit. You'd lose all downforce and as the angle of attack is larger, you'd also have more drag, and no matter which way you cut it, that's not going to work. ;)

It's a weird failure in the the way it's failed though, so worthy of a bit of head-scratching.

RBR actually seem a bit out of sorts, both drivers are not really saying great things about the car either.

What are we looking at in that last pic?

How can you not see the front wing bending or flexing!? First pic, total logo and wing straight, second pic you can clearly see how it moves against the flow of air.

but its not a failure, this is the new wing they are testing today, with that angle

It was broken though... Because Seb went off the track and clobbered it on something... So that wasn't the intended angle at all. Things got worse later on when the gearbox failed. All in all not enough mileage today for them to judge what ever upgrades they're running.
