shakedown at Silverstone right now!

It has a stepped nose!

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

Oh well lol.

Looks like quiet a big step on the nose as well.

Doesn't look such a sharp step from here.

Too pixely to make out the extent of the step, but it's there.

Adrian Newey was saying that he reckons the Merc's launch is delayed because they're hiding something on the front-end of their car.

Hmmm I wonder.

I think they have gone the same way as Ferrari and gone pullrod and the front. Its hard to makeout but you zoom in it looks that way.

Yep, by the looks of it barring any drastic disguise, its stepped but to what degree and how aesthetically palitable it is, is pretty much well hidden from view.
Hope the slope is more subtle than Ferrari though, ................ please be so.:(

i hope they make it right this time, c'mon Ross, let's scare some people off!!!

Doesnt look like the Brawn nose :( :( :(

I didn't want to like the Mclaren :(!! I guess now the Force India is the best car.... Unless the Williams happens to be a winner ;)?

How likely is that, Chet?

About as likely as the FIA banning the step noses before Melbourne I guess. ;)

Oh God, it's even worse than the Ferrari.

It's got pull rod front suspension too.

//edit: I meant push rod of course... silly bint... that's what I get for thinking of marcl's post while writing mine...

That. Is. Hideous.

I'm still not seeing anything groundbreaking on the front end. Maybe Newey was wrong. Maybe they're just slow at making cars.

Ignoring the winter Olympics slope I think it's a good looking car. With the lateness of it compared to the other teams it's almost as if they waited to see the other teams versions then gone "Muhahahahah! Most extreme platypus".

Presumably it's a hidden feature... I'd imagine the front-wing automatic f-duct they were experimenting with in Abu Dhabi... I just can't work out in my head how an automatic f-duct would work without destroying front-end downforce above certain speeds.

I was thinking about this. If it is some sort of f duct that is automatic I have a feeling we could see it banned if they start to do well. It has to be operated by the driver I thought?

I thought they just delayed the car so they could have all the updates rather than run a basic one and then add the updates later?

Without really thinking, I guess I was assuming that driver-operated F-ducts were banned... now I do actually think about it, they aren't are they? They just weren't necessary with the DRS?
