It does, because the rhetorical strategy of reductio ad absurdum, is to reduce the original point to something so ridiculous, that it can safely be ignored = a joke.

It is considered a "dirty trick" because the objective is accomplished without presenting any real counter-arguments at all. Thus the conversation is undermined through simple ridicule.

The FOTA refuses to go to Bahrain. The FOTA don't include HRT though. Who dares to put a tenner on Kolles going to Bahrain to win the race?

Morbid I have to say whenever I get a reply from you, usually directed to one of my comments, I have to take my hat off for 1) teaching me something new (the phrase reductio ad absurdum); and 2) for making me realise when my views are somewhat heavy weighted and not justified/correct.

A genuine thankyou there, and this is definitely not sarcasm. :)

Bernie has backpedalled, so Bahrain probably won't happen this year. It seems he forgot that the teams need to vote a unanimous approval to calendar changes mid-season.

@danm: To be honest, this is a surprise. A pleasant one to boot. I say my piece, and that offends pretty much all-round regardless of life orientation or social background. People don't like when you strip them of all the bullsh!t we all tell ourselves to ease our minds. Many that have better prerequisites to digest my comments than you have end up throwing tantrums, insults and stupid head games - sometimes even for months. If you have the courage to face yourself, then I have to admit respect, even if we don't see eye to eye on things. Most people can't, won't and don't.

So basicly all this has done is made Formula 1 look stupid and probably shows the FIA don't really know their own rulebook.

You are missing the fact, that FIA envoy is a gullible fool, who doesn't know how to trace dissent in a country like Bahrain

It probably went something like this: "Hmmm... let's see... I think I will ask all the friends of the current regime. I can't see any incentive for them to deceive me!"

Also, Gracia doesn't speak English or Arabic apparently, so you can see how effective his mission would've been..

He went to a shopping centre and claimed he found people supporting the Grand Prix return. But the country was under curfew the day he went...so how could that happen?
