+1 gold plated. Kubica is a definite future world champion and hopefully a future Ferrari driver.

Button showed it wasn't all the car last year today. Brilliant drive, and showed he is a true world champion by making the call for slicks at exactly the right time.

Awesome race. Well done Jenson! I hoped he'd be able to pull off something like this early on in the season, but realistically I didn't think it was on. So glad I was wrong! To drive the race he did was a good job in itself, but to make the call on slicks himself and dovetail that in with it was certainly impressive. A sweet win!

Kudos to Kubica for an absolutely stunning race - and weekend altogether TBH. Made the Renault do what it shouldn't have been capable of, ahead of the cars that dominated in Bahrain! Brilliant. His ability to wring impressive results out of mediocre cars is awe-inspiring.

Well done to Massa too, doing the best he could and picking up a podium on a track where he's always struggled.

Harsh luck for Vettel again, I feel for the dude TBH. Hopefully RBR can get that car fully reliable soon.

That was a top race.

Pre-show stuff on bbc1 was hillarious, worth a rewatch for sure.

Kubica = Stunning. Gob shut, on with the racing. Job done. If Massa doesn't get his form back this season, I see Kubica and Alonso as a mega Ferrari pairing into 2011.

Massa IS good, silently consistent, but there are moments when you thing dang, someone like Kubica might make more out of settling for a third.

Button = Epic. Anyone questioning his driving style and that 'smoothness' will today see exactly how that translates. Brilliant.

Hamilton = Toys out the pram. Complaining that the team didn't call him in? Jenson called his own orders. Lewis needs to grow up a bit. I have TOTALLY gone off the guy. What a brat. Aggressive though!

Webber = Oh dear. He's like the ginger kid at school who goes bright red when you ask him his name. Shame. Fragile, but feisty. Love the true grit style.

Vettel = He does have some rotten luck LOL!

Kobyashi = Sheesh. How wrong was I on his prospects! Looks worse than Nakajima this year. But it was possibly a car issue...

Liuzzi = Solid, in the background.

Chandhok = FINISHED! Immense.

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

Well. That was more like it!

Front runners ran as expected, I really enjoyed the race but there still seems to be some problems with cars following and losing downforce, as seen by Hamilton not being able to follow Alonso closely enough. Webber was not in the right frame of mind today but it annoyed me when Brundle complained about Webber moving around before the high speed chicane. I don't see the problem.

Once again, GO KUBICA, I love the forboding colours of the Renault and his lid, awesome. Hamilton is such a brat, he needs to understand that things don't go your way all the time. That's what you get for acting like a Premiership footballer instead of an F1 champion. Stupid punk.

One thing I don't like is BBC's coverage of the actual race. Legard is not an F1 commentator and misses loads and doesn't seem to know what they're talking about. Brundle made some mistakes in the last race too but to be fair he may have been asleep. I don't think the camera people are doing a very good job, I know they can't have eyes everywhere but they missed Kobayashi's crash and then we only got one replay from one angle, something I thought was poor. Same with Petrov the replay came half an hour later. Who do we complain to about this?

Yeah anyway I enjoyed that kthanksBHYE.

We've not spoken much about Chandhok and HRT, but that's a stunning result for them to get one of their cars to the end of only their second Grand Prix. The "team" has only been alive for about 3 weeks!

Right enough, Vettel this year is reminding me of Kimi in 2005.

It would've been interesting to see how he did if he didn't have the incident on lap 1, which screwed his race a bit. But yeah, once he was buried back in the pack, he seemed to do sweet FA.

Hamilton = Toys out the pram. Complaining that the team didn't call him in? Jenson called his own orders. Lewis needs to grow up a bit. I have TOTALLY gone off the guy. What a brat.

Join the club dude :P Lewis's moaning about the team "bringing him in for tyres" doesn't wash. He was the one who decided to obey the call. If McLaren told him to jump off a cliff, would he do it?

Hamilton's opinion reminds me of Barrichellos last season (Think it was after Spain)

Well that sure was way more entertaining than Bore-rain wasn't it! Poor Vettel though. He must be absolutely fuming. He's starting to remind me a bit of Raikkonen in 2005. The fastest drive + car combination, but not leading the championship.

Thankfully for Vettel there's no real clearcut contender emerged thus far, giving Vettel a fair chance to catch up still.

Fantastic race, one of the best in recent memory. Action all the way. Some of the overtaking manoeuvres had me literally exclaiming out loud as drivers pulled out at the last moment or risked passes they normally wouldn't have, ie Hamilton's on Rosberg, or the last minute pull-out on Massa (he was very lucky on that - I thought he'd destroyed the front wing, even before I saw the replay that showed the debris fly-off)

Stars of the race - Button and Kubica. 2nd place for the Renault and a much needed boost for Kubica's stock. But Button - there's one that'll answer some critics. Button's calm driving style was exactly what was needed today and he's after putting some unexpected pressure on Hamilton today, hinting that the McLaren battle won't be the pushover many thought it would be. Hopefully Button can keep this up, it'll make for fascinating viewing.

Button has nothing to lose this year and everything to gain.

They EXPECTED Lewis to win. He did. No surprises.

Button was never regarded much of a World Champ by many.

Hamilton will be ruffled for sure.

Still, it is only two races, and Hamilton was much better in Bahrain.

Luck had its part, but there are a lot more races to go.

Very exciting times, but Jenson does look VERY comfortable at McLaren.

Anyone else get a sense that Whitmarsh actually prefers Jenson to Lewis?

Great race, really enjoyed that, real ballsy racing that I haven't seen for a long time!

I don't think anyone's mentioned it yet, but the Jean Todt's choice to use ex-drivers as race stewards really is starting to show. So many of the incidents today would've been penalised if it had been last year. It was great to see drivers going for it with no stupid penalties. Congrats Mr. Todt, I know people were doubting him initially but he's getting a reputation as a good president with me.

Webber - he was fast, but very rash. He set fastest lap after fastest lap, moving up the field with some impressive manouvers, but then he threw it all away. I get the feeling that on his day, Webber is a good driver, but he doesn't seem to cope with pressure very well.

What was amazing was that Button was pulling 1.29 lows at the end of the race, and his times just got quicker and quicker. 50odd laps on the option tyre, stunning job!

I got worried that once in second Vettel was pulling away, and the gap to Lewis and co was steadily decreasing, by the time Lewis caught Kubica, a 10-12 second gap to Jenson turned into 4. Guess it just turns out Button was being careful with his tyres. Great race drive for him, a real thinking race nad a real thinking race driver.

I felt on ultimate pace JB was more than a match for Lewis, Jenson even said he was not pushing 100%, and you can bet Lewis was. Great win, and great to hear comments from the team after regarding JB's feedback and help to the team, and I think Ross and Rubens for that! Lewis was rattled today, but still put in an awesome race.

Webber was piss-poor and looked at a loss. Bad driving by him IMO.

Schumacher looked awful too. Kinda forgot he was running in the race!

Senna had a mechanical problem but at the end of the first lap he was 14!!

Awesome drives from Jenson, Kubica and Alonso.

Shame for Vettel.

MS was nowhere.

Webber is starting to look like Rene Arnoux, fast but dangerous :P

Chandhok managed to dont get off the track and finished in that thing HRT names "car".

Hamilton was very fast but ruined everything with 2 laps to go, with trying to overtake FA and then suddenly brake causing the crash with Webber...

^Think you need to watch a replay of that crash :)

Great race good call by JB to change tyres when he did. I still dont get why people are saying he blew lewis away he did not, look at the speed and how lewis was closing in it would have been very close had Lewis got past Kubica. Button could look after his tyres so done what was expected out front, Lewis, Kubica, Massa etc were all racing hard. I think Lewis past about 6 cars today and lost out big time in the pits when Kubica was released right into the path of another car. This stupid pit lane thing needs looking at as Nico got delayed in the last race and lewis today when Kubica just went. Great race by Kubica kept his head and pushed hard.

By the way I am taking nothing away from Button was an fantastic drive plus he helped put Alonso and MS at the back so thats bonus points lol.

Some great over taking by Lewis during the race, silly pit call by Mclaren there was no need to change them tyres they looked fine from what I would see. They must have thought Ferrari and Renault would have stopped so wanted the jump on them. Lewis had every right to complain it cost him 3rd and 3rd from 11th would have been a great result seeing that everyone thought he lost his head and would have a bad race.

Webber well what can you say, he has been told off. The drivers must hate having to race him he had already nearly taken Lewis off. He just hits everything and everyone.

Poor race by MS, after he changed the nose he was just behind alonso yet alonso got to 4th MS just looked weak.

Vettel must be a bit worried he is already 25 points behind the Alonso and that could have been a lot worse.

Roll on Sepang :)

That would be Bernie. It is his production team through FOM, that records and produces the race. Every TV station on the planet gets the same feed.

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.

And we've never even seen the retirement of Senna. At one point I just saw him classed as retired and that was it. I still don't know why he retired (but that can also be down to be for not taking the effort to look it up ;))

Yeah, it was an impressive start by Senna. To get an HRT up as high as P14 takes some doing(remembering also that wet/changeable weather conditions are the one situation where the HRT drivers will get an opportunity to make a difference in that car).

Also good to see them getting their first finish with Karun, and a great drive by him.

It was certainly interesting - and great - to see Martin Whitmarsh's emotional reaction to Jenson's win. Clearly that team are behind JB. I'm starting to think I jumped the gun when I assumed they would be heavily biased towards Hamilton. Lewis's loss of his cool during the race and stroppy reaction to the situation today would fit in with that too.
Hmm, maybe there are interesting times ahead. :D

And Raulongo, no I hadn't noticed that, and it will have had an effect on the car's performance.
