"Indeed the team has already shattered the benchmark time for a full-spec 2009 car at Jerez this winter, with Barrichello’s best effort of 1m19.236s almost 0.6s faster than Toyota’s Timo Glock managed at the circuit earlier this month." taken from ITV-F1.com wich is obv. not entirely reliable.

Either way the Brawn GP is still quick, if not as quick as it looked in Barcelona, the Renault has not appeared to be hang about so far in testing so to be 6/10s ahead is strong.

It would certainly be a huge blow to McLaren if they lose whole day of testing, I don't believe they did however. Either way it doesn't look good if they're that desperate to delay testing by a day to get work done at the factory (assumedly).

Unless Vettel had a V12 stuck in the back of his RB5 in their first Jerez test, then I guess ITV cocked up. ;-)

//edit: For the record I fully expect them to get a nice 18.7 or so tomorrow though, so it's pretty irrelevant. :P

Cheers for the correction then and here's hoping!

oh my that BGP is so fast. Barrichello has done 1:18:398 already today.

The problem with Brawn doing these times is that they will end up with people expecting them to win. Every test they have done now they have been in the top 3 or even fastest.

People will expect them to win the 1st race.

The only thing to keep in mind is that all the other cars have developed a lot since they were here too, so I guess in the same conditions as last time, Vettel would be able to knock another half a second or so off of his time too.

That's still a mighty impressive time though!

However, imagine if it was Senna putting these times, god.. can't think the hype's level.

Hamilton down to a 19.6 now, so they don't look that bad.

They're still in head-scratching mode though:

Have they taken to just gluing random stuff to the car?

Hopefully most will just be expecting points.

tbh, a regular points scoring car would be a god send to us BAR/Honda/JB/Rubens fans!!!!! Id easily settle for a car to finsih in top8

edit - I do think at least Ferrari could match their times, and probably beat them.

Dave, if these were the new parts they were waiting for they could quite easily gone to playschool up the road and asked them to build it ;)!

I do think Mclaren will be championship contenders, but atm running several flow vis tests, and sticking this mess onto the car is giving much confidence!

I'd still be stunned if Hamilton didn't make it to Q3, even if the whole set up seems a bit of a mess at the moment.

Agreed. I highly expect 1 Mclaren to be in the top4. And both in top6

What a great bunch of test times! Still impossible to tell who'll have the best car at Melbourne... I'm tempted to say Brawn but it would be virtually unprecedented... The only similar example I can think of is Ligier in '79 - and they were already an established name. So excited about this season!

I'm off to find more household items to glue to next doors Honda Civic in the endless pursuit of performance. I'm thinking along the lines of a toothbrush, last nights curry tin and my bricked X-Box 360. Arranged in the correct layout I think I can make a functioning diffuser.

I wonder how well Williams, Toyota and Brawn will go if they have to change their diffusers?

That is my worry.

The FIA said they were acceptable... To ask the teams to change them now, with limited windtunnel time and no track testing would be ridiculous!

The rules are left open to interpretation. That is F1.

Ever the optimist I see! ;)
