I could be totally wrong here, but if they re-start the race after a red-flag, don't they take the running order at the red flag, and use that to determine the grid for the re-start?

Last year in Nurburgring after the red flag Winkelhock restarted the race from the first place but the cars donpt restarted from the starting grid if Im right

yeah they just restart from the order they were in, i'm not sure about the agregate though. i do know japan 94 was the last time the aggregate was used, but that was about 15laps in when it was red flagged

Yeah, that aggregate rule was really confusing and silly. So glad they don't use it anymore.

I'd imagine the 75% race distance rule still applies, it's been so long now since a race was stopped and declared a result before 75% distance had been completed(Australia 1991) I'm not sure myself.

I think the 2 hour time limit should be relaxed - the races wouldn't run over it by much anyway, the drivers are much fitter and more professional now than they were in the 1970s and the cars are so much safer. The European GP last year showed it could be done with no problem.

The aggregate rule isn't being used anymore. They just re-start with the order before the red flag.

its more due to the television stations dont want it to be longer then 2 hours id imagin.
