Felipe Massa, World Champion 15:34:11pm- 15:34:21pm.
Re:Nick Heidfeld.
I haven't read anywhere that he's been confirmed, and even if he has a contract Theissen is definetly putting pressure on him.
He's been struggling with the qualy pace this year, but his race pace is good. He may just arguably be the best overtaker of the season. As far as him being a support driver, I'd disagree. Let's take a look a his team mate points comparison stats
2000: defeats Alesi (placed higher altough they both score zero points)
in 2001:defeats Raikkonen
2002:defeats Massa
2003:loses to Frenzten
2004:defeats Glock/Pantano
2005:is defeating Webber till he(NH) gets injured and misses last 5 races
2006:defeats Villeneuve
2007:defeats Kubica
2008:Kubica (49)is trailing Heidfeld (41) so far

Pretty impressive record if you ask me.

yeh but, in 2001 kimi was in his rookie year, same for massa in 2002, in 2003 he got beaten by someone who got more experience, in 2004 he beats 2 rookies, again.. in 2005 he was more equal then better then webber imo, villeneuve in 2006 was already on his way down, and in 2007 it was kubica's first year.

It was Hamilton's rookie year as well, when he finished above Alonso.
Kubica started in 2006 (granted late in the year), and it was NH 28, MW 24 by Turkish GP in 2005.

you cant compare that, that was in a good car.

It was an equal car for both team mates (KR and NH in same Sauber 2001 and LH and FA in same McLaren 2007), but not to make this about Raikkonen, Alonso and Hamilton.
Bottom line, I don't think Heidfeld is a support driver.

you can't necessarily use points as the final answer to overall speed.

for example, they would have been even if at monaco, williams pitted webber instead of heidfeld when they were stuck behind alonso, despite webber being ahead of nick

I completely realize that there are many factors that decide team mate comparison.
I just used the most important one to show that Nick isn't 2nd driver, especcially not by default.

The main Geist of the article suggests:

David Coulthard to retire early, Vettel to go to Red Bull for Italian GP onwards, Buemi and Senna move up from GP2 to take 2 races each at Torro Rosso in Vettels old seat.

would be interesting, although singapore would be a very daunting first race!

having said that, DC is having an awful season, and he is lucky he had montreal or he would be on zero points...

Alonso will more than likely stay at Renault next year I think, while his move to Ferrari in 2010(hopefully as team mate to Kimi) is finalised. Honda are a less competitive team, and they wouldn't want to take anyone on for just a single season. Plus they're happy with Jenson and Rubens.

Hopefully Bruno Senna will get an STR seat :)
Dunno if it is posted, but STR is thinking on Takuma Sato for two reasons: He's not a noob (despite his driving style) and because RedBull plans to expand to the hard Japanese market... for me, I will retire Bourdais and make a new STR driver's line up.

But the rumour of Sato is true ;-)

I wouldn't rule Bourdais out yet. He's done good yesterday (keep in mind he had a broken front wing(bridge) for the first stint, also Glock cut the corner passing him). His fastest lap was less than 0,2 seconds slower than Vettel's.

And judging by the statements, Berger has a soft spot for him, I believe he realizes that you don't become four time CCWS champion if you're not something special. And next year slicks return. I predict Le Seb will do better and better till the end of the season.

Buemi will test for STR at Jerez next month. I'd say he has a fair chance to impress since he's already had tests in the RBR.

Kubica prolonging the contract for a year?

That would be a very smart move by Robert. That way he keeps his options open for 2010 - he can stay with BMW if they become title contenders, or if they go backwards for any reason he can go to Ferrari or McLaren :)

If this in not joke, this will be awesome! :)

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

I'm not sure I agree. Either Vettel isn't as good as people are saying, or Bordais is a decent, solid driver. I believe it's somewhere in between, but I don't think there are many drivers available with his sort of experience who could do much better. He's starting to settle in F1 now, and while he'll never be in a top-10 team, I feel he's starting to show that he's deserving of a place on the grid. He's not a kid remember. He's used to something completely different. It's not like a Vettel or a Hamilton who have known nothing else, so have just jumped in and got on with it. Bordais has had to learn a new art. A bit like Hamilton and Alonso last season.

For instance, I'm not sure I'd take Sato over him. Sato is good on his day, and he's certainly got a hell of a lot more spark to him, both on and off the track, but in terms of the on-track team performance I don't think he'd bring anything more than Bordais.

Someone like Sato could benefit from a Bordais in the same team though.
