Really looking forward to this race - it will be my first GP outside Australia.

I sort of hope the weather's okay, considering I'm camping - from what I've heard it's been pretty atrocious in the past few months.

I live about 30 mikes away from Silverstone (I'm not going for the GP this year, cost issues) and it's raining now.. And forecast to all week. I think it's at least going to be at least damp to drying in each session.. If not all out deluge.

Haha, in the middle of one of our wettest summers on reckon (and still in drought btw... just saying) and there's no sign of things improving.

Yeah, it's safe to say the weather's pretty shite. However...maybe a wet race?

Well i would probably take a raincoat, and possibly a snorkel, but be warned, despite the rain it could still be incredibly warm. We've had a lot of muggy weather recently.

Wet race certainly would mix things up a bit, especially if its progressive wet or a wet/dry race.

The weather at Silverstone always seems to catch people out. We went to the GP in 2004, and I managed to pick up a nasty sunburn despite it being dull and grey all weekend. When we went to see the GP Masters race, what appeared to be the same weather had us shivering in our coats :S

Yeah, that can happen - amazing how much of the sun's radiation penetrates cloud cover, when you assume it wouldn't.
I got great weather the time I was there for the GP - 1999. The ironic thing was Schumacher was my favourite driver at the time, and I was in the VIP stand at Stowe corner...

I'm hoping for dodgy weather this weekend though. It'd make a more interesting race, and it'd be reflective of the summer we've had so far in the UK - if it ends up being a weekend of perfect weather for the race after the car crash of an early summer we've had, I'll be a bit annoyed.

Lotus present their concept for 2014 ;-)

Nah, seriously, I do like how it looks.

Also, here's the "Faces for charity" RBR livery. I thought it was gonna be just like 2007, but they have kept the colours.

Expected something more special from Lotus there... :(

The RBR will look awesome on track I bet!

Debating watching the snooker or F1 tomorrow since it will likely be my only live coverage of the weekend. Though looking at the weather, snooker it seems to be!

Snooker?! Is that sarcasm? I thought there was no snooker on TV between early May and late August.

Its on Eurosport, last few years their coverage of most tournaments has been a big help in making it an ever growing sport :p

I would watch the F1 but it'll most likely be a wash out and tbh I've got bored of listening to Croft, and if theres no car's on track for any extended time then it will be a total of 3 hours listening to him talk. Frankly the hour of qualifying and 2 hours for the race is enough for me*

That GP was my first one!!! Shame we weren't both on GPG at that point... also I still remember Trulli rolling over and then seeing it on the big screen ;)

Also I've found a picture of Paul Di Resta's helmet for this race:

I'm actually now concerned that this race won't even go ahead.

The ground is already waterlogged from the supercell thunderstorm we had last week (although I dunno how much the Midlands were affected) and now we're getting two months of rain in a few hours.

This could be bad.

Grosjean gets P1 sailing in the track...

a little bit out of topic but something that bothers me is that if we have a wet race from the start they surely will start with the Safety Car in and make the first laps a borefest. i know is for safety issues but i miss full-throttle wet starts

Fuji 2007, shall I put a better example?

Officially the rules state that the most likely reason for a race to be stopped is that the Medical Helicopter is unable to land in and/or take off from the track. And I hardly think that the thing could even move during that race. The only thing I reckon that could happen is an Adelaide 91-like race.

Got to be honest, I'd be surprised if there is anything remotely resembling motor racing this weekend. All this talk about the revised Silverstone circuit and the money spent and the best circuit in the world .. all comments from you know who?
All too much and there's not even a car on the circuit. Hearing now that the have run out of places to park. They have resorted to parking on residents drive-ways. ( with thier permission ).
What a mess we're not even into qualyfing let alone the race.
Perez quoted as saying ' a waste of a whole day' ....... mmm.

The weather is an absolute pain for sure but it was expected. Talk that the drivers may be short changing fans by not going out. They're not going out because it's bloody dangerous, what do people expect?
They havn't enough wet tyres and also Lewis is quoted as saying ' the drainage is not that good here'. Why? Unbelievable.
I hope it lets up enough for us to have a decent quali and at least you dont mind a partial wet race more at the back end just to 'juice' it all up but please no rolling start otherwise I'm gonna have to join Chet with the golf and to be frank, I'd rather watch paint drying.
