As the title suggests, he has revealed in his BBC F1 column that he used to play Grand Prix 2.

"When I was a kid, I used to play a game called Grand Prix Two. Interlagos was always the first race of the season on that and I never really got much past the second race.

I would always restart the season, so I always seemed to be doing Interlagos - it was a real pain!"

Not particulary interesting but......

Haha, are you kidding me, that's awesome news. (H)

Celebrity endorsement is always good, especially if it comes from one of the best in the business. Like when dozens of big names, like Dale Earnhardt Jr. heaped praise upon iRacing (one of the few games I consider a better simulator than GP4).

It's good to read that from Hamilton and it feels good to know he did much the same as a kid as me, for example. That he found the same thing great on the scene back then.

Sadly, his "admission" also reflects on just how big a loss it was when Microprose shut down. :(

Actually, I have an old F1 Racing mag (from 2001) somewhere in which JP Montoya declared he spent hours playing GP2, even during his F3000 career, in order to learn the tracks. In fact, JPM is a known videogame addict, racing and non-racing. And we know recently that Max Verstappen plays iRacing and in fact joined an online league. Porsche GT works driver René Rast is an avid Project CARS player. Wonder how many pro racers are hidden out there? Maybe even in this forum? :-O

If I remember correctly it was said that Jacques Villeneuve, for his first season in F1, had learned some of the tracks by playing with GP2 as well.

I follow an iRacing guys on YouTube and he has a video, a 40-50-minute GT race, that had James May in it, lol.

Not quite the pro racer we are looking for, but close... close-y. ;)
