One of the figures of the 70s, Jean-Pierre Beltoise died yesterday from a stroke during his holidays in Senegal.
Beltoise is known for his career with Matra in F1 and Endurance as well as his victory at the Grand Prix de Monaco in 1972 with BRM.

From what I've seen of it, that 1972 Monaco GP was a real classic. Maybe because it was the last win for BRM, maybe because it was the last race before the two-hour rule came in(I think?) and it ended up running for 2 hours 30 minutes. But that race has always stood out to me as being a bit special.

I've got to say I don't really know too much about him apart from that, but he definitely added to the character of 1970s motorsport in general and 1970s F1 in particular. It's been sad to hear about this.

RIP :(
