I think McLaren will stick with the chrome & red brand for now. For starters the Santander sponsorship has been extended... Hence the red and also apparently the RonSpeak doesn't favour the orange.

Ah, obviously. An ever better example I always quote is the ban of ground effect in 1983 that produced minuscule sidepods (that everybody got used to). Shame is, there's no efficient way of allowing for another sort of vanity panel (like with the steps) because it's obvious that no engineer will use it, as they need to put as much air under the car as they can.

Pretty sure that alcohol advertising is still allowed for the majority of races - McLaren's Johnnie Walker sponsorship springs to mind ;)

It's probably banned in the Middle Eastern countries.

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.

Whenever he moves to a team they seem to plummet down the grid! ;)

Eric Boullier has left Lotus with immediate effect.

Autosport reporting that he is set to join McLaren as Team Principal.

Madness!

Considerably less mad than promoting Sam to team principal though. This news has taken me by surprise and has impressed me. I can only see Boullier as a loss to "Lotus" and a gain to McLaren.

So Lotus are not only now losing key technical personnel, missing testing.. they're also losing their management and direction. Whichever way you look at it... it's not the ideal approach to a new season especially one with significant regulation changes.

It's confirmation that Enstone has to be a sinking ship surely? As Jim says they're losing all sorts of staff, struggling to get the cars finished, the boss is gone...

I'd always thought Boullier was a pretty good operator so the move can only be a good thing for McLaren. I think the pointy end of the grid this year will be a cracker!!

Has any successful team ever been stripped of drivers and top personnel as quickly as Lotus have been?

There has to be something fundamentally wrong for people to be walking out so much

longest 3 minutes of my life...........C'mooooon wanna see Mclaren.......

The Real Story of the Race was that the Renault's fell apart and the Ferrari's didn't.
Rosberg headed for the sliproad and retired, probably because of Nicotin starvation they have still not given him a helmet with a little hole in it.

Both of those cars are so beautiful that I can almost tolerate silly noses. Remarkably elegant solutions when you consider the potential the rules provide for looking hilariously and stupidly ugly.

However, according to Scarbs the Lotus solution may not be strictly *cough "legal".

Actually I think the McLaren looks rather good, although the Thin Nose is very....let´s say... hard to get used to .

The Lotus on the other hand looks rather clumsy on the front end...

oh my...if those nose tips wouldnt be there we would have one of best looking cars since few years but with thatt they look like worst cars since decades.

Both cars look stonking, apart from those noses! Wow they're fugly. Although it is really interesting to see the different approaches with Lotus going for with a split and Macca with whatever the hell you call that. Cut the cars off at the front wing supports and they look sensational!

Will be interesting to see if McLaren's livery stays as stark as it is. I can't imaging they'll have MP4-29 plastered on there come Melbourne.

Notice that they appear to have lost the Burn sponsorship as well
