Well yeh, but in the first part of the match, there where some Brazilian players shouting at the ref, alot of refs would have given yellows for that too, so Brazil was also lucky to not receive some yellows. And in the first part of the game Brazil kept lumberjacking on #11's (Robben) leg, we all know he gets injured easily, and that's what they where trying to do, but doing so, gave Robben the chance to go and fake them in the 2nd half, so it was abit of what goes around comes around.

Edit 2: It looked to me like Appiah was offside in the play where Ghana got its PK, however I couldn't find a replay.

He was, but it was very close and extremely quick.

Here is the moment it is headed to Appiah.

And here it is 0.1 seconds later (line using the guy who was playing him offside, not the keeper).

He is still offside, but not with the player who was actually playing him offside.

You can see why the lineman never blew. You have be sure, and given the speed at which it happens, he couldn't be.

I´m Argentinean, i never agree with the decision to put maradona on the team. I thougth that Germany would win, but not like this. They played realy well, and they deserved to win. Hope to see Germany as World Champion, and Argentina to change their minds at once...

One can only hope their football skills in the semi-final will not equal your spelling skills.

exaclty... today against one high class rival we saw the flaws the team or "Maradonna" had...
no doubt there's talent, but unfurtunately there wasn't good direction as a whole
the main reason they got where they where was Messi, Tevez and Veron, but behind them there was just plain disorganization...
having said that, they lost against probably the best team on the cup

Im Argentinian too and i feel sorry for my country but Germany played better and they scored more goals so they deserved to win.

About Maradona i think he deserves another chance to organize the team for brazil 2014. People learn from mistakes so i think he can learn too.

Congratulation Germany. (Y)

I will cheer for Uruguay and Paraguay because they are South American teams :-)

Maradona had chosen the 23 players badly... I mean, Otamendi was nowhere in the match, its not his position where he played today, thats Zanetti position, but Maradona didnt called Zanetti, he called... Garce, that isnt good enough to be in a World Cup.

We didnt have a good play in the middle, Messi and Tevez were forced to go back to receive the ball...

Argentina wasnt really a team, Argentina was 11 players.

Who thought at the start of the World Cup that the sole South American representatives in the semi finals would be Uruguay?

Interesting match tonight - Paraguay played exceptionally well, but you always felt that Spain were going to fashion just the one chance they would need. The penalty sagas were something else. For the record, the Paraguay penalty should also have been retaken for exactly the same reason the Spain penalty was - encroachment from Spain (and from the same players too). The encroachment was worse than it was for the Spain one too.

Germany are the real article. Their attacking play is something no other team has - pace - not physically, but mentally. They're so decisive. Spain can do the same, but they normally faff around for 5 minutes before they try to make a decisive pass.

Argentina were strangely lacklustre. They made zero clear chances that I can remember.

To me Maradona still is the greatest player I have witnessed in my life. I have the greatest respect for him and I'm glad he found the strength to get his life sorted out. This man is a legend no matter what happened in South Africa.

I would have prefered Paraguy as an opponent in the semi-final. Spain will be a tough nut to crack. And I hope we won't beat Spain so my redneck/white trash neighbour chokes on his vuvuzela.

Germany was the better team today, they deserved to win, not by that margin, but they took advantage of their opportunities, Argentina didn't, is that simple. I hope either Germany or Uruguay win the WC, Germany for being the best team so far, and Uruguay for being fellow South Americans (Y)

I'm not going to defend Brazil here, but imo one thing doesn't justify the other. Anyway, I'm kind of glad that we lost. Hopefully this'll make Brazil come back down to earth and do a better job for 2014.

In fact, I feel worse for Paraguay than I've felt for Brazil, and I'm sure that Larissa Riquelme shares my feelings. ;)

I recall Vader, many years ago, and please take this with respect that I do recall it was you, suggesting that saying "we" and "our" in terms of a football team was silly, unless you played for that team. I disagreed of course because that's just what I do, so I like we're on the same page now ;)

I had Germany winning 3x0 ;).

So I was right about the Ghana offside, thanks for that nice cap, Gav! Divine justice though with that post. I am hoping for Spain x Holland in the final with Spain coming out the champions, though I see them with a lot of problems to beat the nicely oiled machine that is Germany, again prevailing on excellent teamwork. They did look very sloppy several times and got a lucky break for 2x0, I also think Klose may have been offside - though in that case, I hope he was ;). Klose now tied Gerd Müller with 14 goals in World Cups, I honestly hope he doesn't get any more goals, I want to see Schweinsteiger get some.

The penalty Casillas saved should have been retaken for two reasons: the blatant crossing the line by the Spaniards, and Casillas being ahead of the line when the player kicked it. Lady FIFA will never do much about it though, those rules are rarely enforced, especially the one about goalie taking a forward step. All teams in the semi-finals are nations where I have ancestry, it's kind of cool :P.

Please let Spain win, please let Torres finally come out and play this tournament. Holland deserved a title for Cruyff or van Basten/Gullitt/Rikjaard, and although Sneijder has been sensational for them I feel they've been lackluster this World Cup and would be an undeserving victor.

Final thought, maybe Maradona and Dunga can share the flight back home ;).

So you see what it has already done to me? It needs to be stopped.
