The 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP QUALIFYING THREAD

And so the European part of qualifying has kicked off.
Slovenia drew with Poland away and defeated Slovakia at home.
For the first time since 2003, there's a feeling that we may actually do something significant again.

Slovenia making into extra play offs (altough losing to Croatia) was still significant on our level.
Making it into EURO 2000 and World Cup 2002 was an achievement by itself for a country with population of 2 million.

I don't really know about Holland. They'll probably just get into the world cup and then will fail again in the group stage or shortly after, like with any other tournament :P

Holland was always my favorite team (besides Slovenia, ofcourse)
They played phenomenally at groups stages of Euro 2008, I was happy that Van The Man returned.

and what do you think about Bulgaria. 2:2 against Montenegro (not a bad team my opinion), and Italy had many difficulties against Cyprus. Maybe Bulgaria can be the surprise for the WC 2010 and qualify at least for the play - offs

England 5-1 Kazakhstan, but not easily so.... that took far too long for England to get into the groove.

England were poor, awfully poor, play that against Croatia and I'm pretty sure they would have won 4-1 instead. Walcott made it look as if his Croatia performance couldn't be repeated. Ashley Cole, oh my god, what was he doing? Poor, and thats still winning 5-1.

And now Van The Man has left again, and Holland played terrible against Iceland, a little island which owns us a LOT of money and only Gunarsons and Sigurdson in their team
