Ronaldo is still fat and ugly. And that other ferret face with a similar name didn't convince me either today.

So, he scores a crappy header and you think he is god? He couldn't run or do anything. His control and passes were awful and he was only reasonable when the ball was played in to his feet.

He's there to score, and that's what he did. Well done Ronaldo!

Ooh, it might not have been the Brazil from 4 year ago but they were looking worryingly coherent in this game :(

Still, Spain will kick your asses in the Quarter-Finals :)

tons of bad passes by Ronaldinho and Robinho and the defense was wide open, Gilberto wasn't good at all defensively leaving the Japanese an avenue to go behind him (not Gilberto Silva), and Lúcio let the Japanese get behind him for the goal. I'll go on his defense though, he's been great during this WC but Juan will get best defender. Juninho Pernambucano didn't mark either and his goal was just horrible goalkeeping. Other than that, good game ;).

Ronaldinho Gaúcho is still underperforming severely, and it wasn't even much because of lack of movement from forwards. He's trying some passes that are impossible to happen, he should stop trying to give a show at every play because he's failing at everything. But that play with him and Ronaldinho where the ball went wide just for the sake of warming us up, was beautiful.

And of course I have to mention Ronaldinho, much better game. In all the games he's been marked by at least two players, but in this one he had better rhythm and was able to do something. He could improve lots more but that will come as he regains his fitness, there were a few times where he could have made a diagonal run to get the ball free but he didn't. And Robinho was a disappointment for me, he did a few nice plays and wanted Ronaldinho to score his 14th goal in the World Cup (could clearly see that when he passed instead of shooting for our 3rd goal) but I think he should stay in for Adriano as a starter.

Finally, much better to have Gilberto Silva instead of Emerson, and Cicinho in for Cafu. Gilberto Silva doesn't foul like Emerson, and despite not running as much or passing as well I still prefer not having someone who kicks legs instead of the ball. And Cafu is useless, Cicinho helped very well the offense (and can cross) but also came back and made good tackles and stops at defense, another thing Cafu doesn't do. We just have to work a better way for the wingbacks to not leave gaps behind them, as Japan was more dangerous coming behind Gilberto which forced Juan to leave his position to take care of the winger as well as his own guy.

Great result in the end though and I am deeply sorry for Zico, he made a miracle with Japan. For the next match I hope we keep Cicinho and Robinho like they were in this game, and Ronaldinho still owes me at least 3 more goals! (Hopefully 5 more!)

Edit: Thanks TripleM, I appreciate and promise not to get cocky ;)

Ronaldo has been called Ronaldinho since he started in 94, then a 17 year old kid ;-). In 99, Ronaldinho Gáucho started to get big (Gaúcho because he played for Grêmio, a team from the South and a region of Gaúchos, and because the other Ronaldinho was there). But then he was transferred to Paris S.G. and for Europeans to call him Ronaldinho Gaúcho was just torture, so he became Ronaldinho, while Ronaldo (always called Ronaldinho in Brazil) has the name on his shirt called more often.

Still, several times (more often than not) Ronaldinho is referred to as Ronaldinho Gaúcho and Ronaldo is called Ronaldinho, Ronaldinho Fenômeno, or occasionally Ronaldo. There :p

that pretty much clears it all up! :)

still confusing as all hell though

i went on a site (which sadly seems to be down) where it would turn your name into a Brazilian soccer name, and for me it came up with either Mccinho, Mccinhosa or Garinaldo. Nice!
