A stunnning first half performance was contrasted by an abject second half, but I feel that 75% of the blame lies at Sven's door for substituting Owen. That was just crazy.

Gerrard had a great game (he's my favourite World player, the fact that he's English is great for me as a fan :)) but I was disappointed that he wasn't allowed to go forward more when Hargreaves came on.

The 1-0 scoreline may be disappointing even if we won, but let's not forget that it's the best start we've had to a competition in over a decade, and better than the 1966 squad managed. :)

Beckham's back on form, which is excellent news! I have to say, with the exception of Hargreaves (whose inclusion in the squad is itself a point of contention), the whole England squad this year looks like a team of REAL footballers, real men. No ponces worrying about their hair. I'm proud to be a supporter this year. :)

That referee was the biggest tw@t in history for the majority of the second half, he ignored almost all of our legit claims for free kicks, and gave it to Paraguay instead! Biased as hell

i agree, the whole of walkabout in portsmouth were not the least bit impressed by that ref!

he made some VERY bizarre choices!

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

I don't think a good team would have beat us. Holland are a good team too, and really struggled in the midday heat starting at 1400. England's next game kicks off at 1700, that will be the one which shows our true form.

The temperature ain't going to stay that warm forever. :)
