he has, but he always ends up putting the car in the wall in critical situations

in 1999, Houston, Australia.. Franchitti didn't took that championship because of the pit stop incident in Fontana
in 2003 in Indy F1 with Barrichello
2005 in Macca while fighting for constructors
and now fighting for the Drivers Championship
Last race was not his fault, but this time it was

True, it's racing and the risk is always there, but he seems to be a lot under those situations

A few incidents over the space of 10 years? I guess he'll cope.

I don't quite see why everyones jumping over JPM for this one being his fault when Carl Edwards already took the chunk of the blame for putting them in that position in the first place.

Phoinex next up... Had a quick look at the track, their site says 11 degrees banking max, so not a great deal. How will Monty go here? Does he have a good car for this type of circuit? I desperatly want him to win his first oval race this season.

A year ago (maybe even half a year!) I would have laughed at the thought of being excited about watching a Nascar race!! Now its become very much a part of my sunday night routine! I think i was more supprised that when Monty went out last race I still watched the rest of it! Anyway, a perfect example of never judge a book by its cover!

Most (not all) motorsport fans find NASCAR boring because they don't understand it. When you actually know what your watching, it makes it much more interesting. Of course some will still find it dull, as that is just peoples tastes.

It's 11 deg in T1/2, which has a tighter radius. T3/4 is longer with 9 deg banking.

in 2003 it was a line ball incident you fool, most people felt he was harshly done by as barrichellon should have given him space, and the michelin situation was what actually lost him the championship.

Couldn't get a drive in Europe, or even that silly Stock Car series for South American rejects, so has ended up in a Truck team who will use him for the cash.

From what ive seen/read her first ARCA outing was awesome. She might have been shite in an open-wheel and turning right, but if she can drive these cars then all credit to her. I think I would like to see her in a cup car but mainly because her attitude wouldnt go well with the others :p if she starts loud mouthing like she did in IRL i dont think it will go down as well :p

I wouldn't say she was awful in Indycars: 7th, 6th, 5th overall in the last 3 years. Don't forget that IRL cars don't have any power steering, and she weighs about 100 lbs. Her results in the lower open-wheel classes show she has plenty of talent as a road racer.

She was in the best team. Had competition in IRL nad was nowhere on road courses. Crashed into others then tried to cause mayhem off-track! Im glad it appears like she might have found her place because ive always thought of her as a gimic, and that the only reason she is in IRL was because she was a woman. She has clearly got talent, thats no question but in IRL she always seemed to lack quite alot extra compared to the others.

Yeah. She weighs less. So don't forget that until 2008, IRL rules didn't include the drivers weight in the overall car weight, meaning Danica ran with a weight advantage. A womans body shape also has most weight around the hips, so her centre of gravity is lower.

Her results in the lower open-wheel classes show she has plenty of talent as a road racer.

She never ever won a race in any series until the Motegi win. And that win came when half the field was in Long Beach, and she won on fuel mileage alone. Your right. Shows her talent.

As for the ARCA race, I don't see it that well. She ran around in the best equipment that exists in Stock Cars, with a team that is just Dale Earnhardt Jrs team, and finished 6th on an easy flat track. Whilst there is a lot of knowledge involved in drafting, there was no evidence of her having learnt that (but that wasn't the point in her ARCA entry). The track itself takes no skill to run, only being able to play the draft has any effect.

She had the best car by *miles* and finished 6th on a track that is all about how good the car is. Other than her fantastic save when Piquet did a Piquet, I don't see why she is getting major credit for this one. Even in this weekends Nationwide race, she'll be running about in Hendrick equipment which is better than the rest of the grid. Wait till they get to a proper track for a better evaluation.
