Didnt watch the race, unable to but 4seconds from 1st to 12th?!!!
And apparently the closest finish in IRL.
Looks like a race ill have to watch!

Shame about Wilson not taking rookie of the year but his oval performances are far from great.
And tbh Will Power was probably the better rookie throughout the year.

Just want Power to win at Surfers :D

And apparently the closest finish in IRL.

There is some debate about that. The final gap was 0.0033, making it the second closest in history. 0.0024 being the closest, in 2002.

Good race really. Wouldn't mind seeing who's in that #10 Ganassi car come Surfers...

Was great fun to watch it, although my internet was a bit slow and that really p***ed me off because I missed some of the most interesting parts. Anyway, well done to Dixon, deserving champion!

really?, could it be Dario?.. if that's the case, he always does well there, i hope he comes back with a great result!

Well all of the contracts which end at the end of 2008 end at Chicagoland, since that was meant to be the last race of the year. So as it stands, Wheldon has already been released from Ganassi duties. Dario has also stopped running in the #40 Nationwide car, because Bryan Clauson (who is a rookie, sharing the car with Dario) could benefit from running in it more.

So Dario is supposedly going to be in the #10 come Surfers.

But unless Tony George pays the teams to go out there, most may not even go. Flying to Australia is a bit of a stretch for a non-championship event. Hopefully it can get onto the 2009 Calender properly.

Whats the likleyhood of a full grid there? Its an awesome track and will an awesome race. Got really strong hopes for Wilson and Power to challenge for victory there...

Well the CCWS teams will already struggle. For 2009, they are expected to pay for there own chassis and engines (like all of the current Indy Car teams), where as this year they got them all for free. So some of the smaller teams will be looking to save as much cash as possible.

I hope from what probably would have been increased tv coverage and exposure since the move the ccws teams have enough!

Nobody has any new sponsors. If NASCAR is struggling for sponsorship, IRL has a really hard time.

The "Detroit Act" decided the title, not that race... It was unfair to Helio tbh.

Helio was penalised in Detroit for unfiar blocking, whether or not you agree with the penalty doesn't matter because the Detroit penalty had no effect on the outcome of the championship.

Dixon won the Championship with 646. Helio was second with 629, some 17 behind Dixon. Had Helio not been penalised at Detroit he would have gained 10 points (50 for a win, 40 for second) and finished 7 points behind Dixon, still second in the Championship. To suggest that Detroit decided the championship is blatant and uninformed fanboyism.

Helio also got himself penalised in qualifying for Chicagoland. The drivers were told not to dip there inside tyres over the white line, and Helio did it, on all of his qualifying laps. By right, this means he technically never even qualified for the race, but IRL let him start last anyway. So if anything, IRL gave Helio a break.
