thank you for your offer. If I have a free wish, then I would say keep on doing what you´re doing and don´t stop with your great imput for us! :)

As I integrated all of your 2014-tracks yesterday it also was the first time I saw how they look this year and what quality they are. Really excellent work, so many details and things to explore! Hockenheim just for example where I thought I´m dreaming when I saw the kerbs or entered the pit -so fine! The list of wonderfull impressions is long! There´s even a "Bull" on Spielbergring!

Only your jam-path inside the trackfiles collide with my multiseasonal-structure. But no problem, instead of belinis subfolder "tracks" I use a "tracks_holemad"-dir and hope I can manage to fill up this one with all your work in the future.

A tiny input from myside is that originally the RedBull-Ring is called Spielbergring as Spielberg is the small village where the track is settled. As you know was it called "A1-Ring" in the days when a big telecomunication company was the main sponsor. But as long as this track exists people called it Spielbergring. Maybe it is a good idea to change it to it´s original name and overrule the power of money from the big spenders?

have a nice day,

thank you for the kind words :-)

and indeed, my updates include not only making the new jams, there is a bit more to do to bring them at the current level. ;-)
You're right about some jam names/id's/path, maybe i can start with spa and try to keep the original structure, so it'll save you that effort.
btw : spa is my home race, so it will get a massive update.

About spielberg, the bull was kindly offered by shlund, so thats his contribution to the track.
The name redbullring will be kept in my work, you can change it in whatever you want.

The mod keeps crashing every time when starting a race. I've set both GP3-2000.exe and GPxPatch to Win XP SP2 mode and run as administrator. Log file verbosity is set on high and the number of CPUs on 0.
My laptop specs:
Intel i3-2350M 2.3 GHz
4GB RAM
Windows 7 Home Basic 64-bit
AMD Radeon HD 7500/7600 Series (no clue what the exact model is)

The log is ridiculously long, so it's easier to quote my post and then take a look at it in the posting box below.

And whenever I'm "lucky" enough to actually be in game after loading, the frame rate is ludicrously low, thus making the game unplayable (processor occupancy is at 580%!). Pirx, thanks anyway for the mod, though. :)

doubleclick gp3_2000.exe, run sound&grafics calibration

hope that helps!

The game crashes before graphics recalibration is to begin.

did you read and follow exactly the HowTo.txt?
maybe you didn´t use the Registry utility contained in "activation patch"

it´s hard to tell, there are so many possibilities. and I cannot open your posted log!

read howto carefully and strt again!

I followed your instructions and the game is *working* and not crashing every time when loading a race, but processor occupancy goes sky-high nonetheless. Apparently it's futile to launch GP3 on W7 x64, so I guess I should stick to GP4 instead, yet I'm not spared CTDs there either. Thanks anyway for your help, pirx. :)

I understand your frustration! -I need to make an easier way to install all the stuff (is already planned for season2014!).

-a fast shot could be:
-disable antialiasing on your notebook
-set all RCR-values in GpxPatch-GpxLap (search button RCR-Values) to 3840
-post content of "gconfig.txt" (find in gamedir)
-if you wanna give it a last try to get the mod run faster read main HowTo.txt in UNIVERSEmod-dir, there´s a whole chapter about it.

or maybe come back when season 2014 is out,
pirx

I'd rather go for the latter... but that won't radically improve the framerate issue, will it?

..no

but there are only 2 possible reasons:
-your graficchip is an onboard (has only shared grafic-memory)
-something is wrong with modinstallation
(have you read the chapter about speeding up?)

have fun!

I did and I've done everything according to the readme. The GPU is a Radeon HD 7610M fyi, which is not onboard afaik. Perhaps I ought to give it one more shot.

..if HW is ok it should run.

sorry

I have the same problem... I'm going to wait for the 2014 release... I'm 19 now and I haven't played GP3 since I was 10 years old.

these are not good news at all.

(+sure too many different things to install - will change in season14)

sorry guys!

There you go:

[Software 3d] good 128 1 1280 3 1280
[AMD Radeon HD 7500/7600 Series] good 128 1 8192 3 8192
[AMD Radeon HD 7500/7600 Series] testing 128 1 8192

GP3-2000 crashed in the fifth attempt whilst testing the *second* identical GPU.

that´s how it should look like:

[Software 3d] good 128 1 1280 3 1280
[AMD Radeon HD 7500/7600 Series] good 128 1 1280 3 1280
[AMD Radeon HD 7500/7600 Series] good 128 1 1280 3 1280

(just copy this text and paste it, then make file gconfig.txt writeprotected)

+
start GPxPatch and goto Tab "GpxLap"
press button RCR-values and paste 3840 into the distances (4x) [7680 if all is well with performance]
press OK
+
start MOD
never do a graficcalibration again!!!
when in game goto Options:
do a sound recalibration
always select the first grafic-HW-device in grafic options (not the SW!)
set grafics to 1024x768
set detaillevel first low then raise
+
give gp3_2000.exe admin-rights
& set compatibility to "winXPsp2"

now it should work if everything is ok with HW & installpaths

but
it can also be slow because of your gcard-driver. disable "Vertical-sync" and antialiasing and "everything" that didn´t exist in those years.

ps: the crash when starting gp3_2000-graficcalibration is normal. it is here to write values into gconfig.txt

good luck!

Once again, thanks for your help, but none of your solutions mitigated the fps problem. I hate to say this, but I give up. :(

The easier solution would be to create an auto installer or something similar to avoid these problems
