I really want a joystick to use as a gear shifter.

I used to have a T2 which had a gear shifter. I added two paddle shifters
to the wheel and life was good. But the T2's wore out really quickly.

Anyway, I now have a LWFFGP wheel and the excellent Redline Race Controls pedals(http://www.wave.co.nz/~lakewood/Redline2.htm).

I've looked around for joysticks and all I can find are hi-tech looking
pistol grip joysticks with 32 buttons.

I reckon this gear stick is just about perfect for the job:

race controllers.

Does anyone know where you can buy simple 2 or 4 axis
joysticks suitable for a gear stick, that don't cost a fortune?
It makes me feel old. I remember when C64 joysticks were all just
a plastic stick pointing out of a plastic base, and the cheaper ones
had no buttons at all.

Has anyone ever built a joystick themselves?

BTW, Bruno's Brazil is bloody excellent!! :) THanks Bruno!

Cheers
-Nick
