Did anyone ever slove this problem?
I think I've tried everything and I'm getting nowhere.
Would really like a sollution because my old XP pc is rather unstable.

a xp-partition beside your win7 could do it...means running both on one PC. "partition magic" would be a tool for that, if you wanna keep your existing OS. but be careful, you would have to make dangerous operations for your win7...we could help.

I don't want to go the dualboot route. It's risky, probably not a good idea on an SSD and I will hardly ever use it.
I've just ordered a cheap Nvidia videocard and i'm hoping that will fix the problem.
Installing an old fx5200 card in my XP pc gave me a nice performance boost. And that's strange since the HD3650 is much more powerful.
And on both my PC's I have that strange purple ring around the tires so there is definitely something wrong with the HDXXXX cards/drivers.

first try to solve that PO, the purple ring is an easy fix : updating the tyre bmp is all you need to do, i guess

FYI: The purple ring went away when using an old Nvidia card. (No bmp's were changed)

The purple ring is ATI related as far as I know.

FYI: I've installed a Nvidia card and the game calibration is now running below 60% at full resolution and details. The pink rings however are still there :(

Tip: Just paint the pink areas on the tyre bitmap black.. (you can do some experiments with the graduation of the black colour) :)

I had the same problem on my Windows 7 machine: GP3-2000 was running super slow and was unplayable. Also, Windows XP was no option because the mainboard type was not supported anymore. I wasn't able to install it. To get GP3 running faster, I tried your tips, which made it not significantly better, like "Esse" said:

Uplayable again, but better! 10 fps, not more 1!
At least now i've seen the car start! You are on
the right way! =D
To solve my problem, I tried different graphic cards on my PCI-Express slot. The one that didn't work was my ATI RADEON HD 4350 with 1270 MB of Memory. I tried so many different options, game settings, patches and programs, like that dgVoodoo, which was nothing more than voodoo magic. So I swapped the graphic card to a passive cooled NVIDIA GEFORCE 8400 GS with 1270 MB. It worked without problems and laggs, the first time I started GP3. I also tested an active cooled RADEON X300/X550/X1050 (produced by Asus) with 1024 MB which was also running a very smooth GP3.
I can't make any prediction, which cards will work: Manufacturer and cooling system seems to have no effect. So if you have replacement parts, use them and try them out.

if you are having severe fps drops and lag, one thing that worked for me on windows 7 is to put the rain chance over 25%, don't set it to automatic.

hope that helps
