Dissapointing start for us to be 13th and 15th after last years heroics..hopefully we can find a good strategy and bag some points :)
Disaapointed with that result. We have gone backwards from last season and we need to improve fast.
4&5th is definately not bad! Hopefully we can gain in the race though :)

Australian Grand Prix Race Day

Hello and welcome to the first race of the 2005 Formula One 2005 season. Yesterday we saw Kimi Raikkonen take pole position ahead of Mark Webber in the Red Bull with Lotterer in third and there will be no doubt that all three will be looking to carry over there advantage to the race. Anyway with no rain forecast for the race and the five lights already on it’s time to go to the track.

And we’re away!!!

And Alonso has had a flying start from 5th as he soars past Lotterer and Webber into 2nd place

But there’s a big crash behind!!! Schumacher’s sent flying through the air!!!

The replay shows that Schumacher was caught in a Vettel and Lotterer sandwich on the run down to the first corner and that he took Massa’s rear wing off as he flew past.

Unsurprisingly Schumacher is out on the spot

Whilst Massa can continue but he has a whole lap to complete without a rear wing and will obviously need to pit, it’ll be a long way back for Felipe now on his return to F1…

Meanwhile at the front Alonso’s not finished as look for a way past Raikkonen…

But the two make contact!

Raikkonen has to wait to rejoin whilst Alonso now leads the race!

Alonso immediately makes use of the clean air as he goes fastest on the next lap

Meanwhile Montoya is looking for a way past Coulthard for 7th

But he tags the back of the Renault!

Coulthard is forced to wait in the gravel to rejoin whilst Montoya inherits 6th place

There’s quite a sizeable queue forming behind Villenueve in 8th

At the back Zonta is looking to pass Heidfeld in turn 1…

But they touch and Zonta spins around!

Heidfeld however continues

Davidson is a little wide at turn 9

And he loses out to Fisichella and Raikkonen

Meanwhile, even though Ralf appears to have got past Villeneuve, Coulthard and Glock have now joined the train

But Coulthard is looking to pass the Arrows of Glock

And he make it easily

Da Matta is alongside Villeneuve down into turn 9…

But he tags the back of the Williams and spins

And somehow survives with his front wing intact, although he is now down in 19th...

Button appears to be going very slowly…

And indeed he is forced to pit with a throttle problem

However at the front Lotterer has passed Webber off camera for 2nd place

7 laps in and Massa has already caught up to the back off the field

Meanwhile the two Red Bull’s are getting fairly close together

And Kubica is right underneath his team mates rear wing…

And he pulls out of the slipstream…

But they touch!

Webber is in the gravel whilst Vettel pays Kubica a favour by pointing him in the right direction again!

Webber has to rejoin in 20th

Lotterer has the whole pit straight to himself at the moment

Meanwhile after making an early stop Massa is still back in 19th place squabbling with Zonta

But he has a run on his fellow countryman down the home straight…

And he makes it easily

So with ten down lets have some standings

But while we looking at the standings Raikkonen and Glock have come together resulting in a traffic jam at turn 9!

And in the resulting chaos Da Matta drops two places to 16th

Meanwhile Raikkonen has it all to do again…

And now Klien is facing the wrong way at turn 1!

It looks like a failed overtake on his team mate resulted in the spin

Meanwhile Alonso is flying out front

And that’s another slow moving Sauber, but this time it’s Heidfeld

A water leak ends Heidfeld’s day

And Raikkonen’s in trouble again!

This time it was a failed overtake on his fellow front row starter Webber

This is quickly turning into a nightmare race for the Finn

Our leader is in the pits

He rejoins in second behind Lotterer

Barrichello has had a fairly quiet race so far and he currently resides in 5th

Kubica is in the pits from 4th

He rejoins in 7th

And now Lotterer is in from 1st place

Unsurprisingly Alonso retakes his lead as the young German is back out in 5th

That’s Davidson parked on the edge of the track on the run down to the chicane

A throttle problem ends his race

Vettel is currently running well in his debut race in 2nd place, although he is yet to pit

But his team mate looks to be in trouble! He’s going very slowly!

And he retires from the 4th with an engine problem

Meanwhile Rubens has pitted from 3rd

And he’s back out in 6th

Vettel is the next of the front runners to pit.

But he re-emerges behind Kubica into 4th place

Meanwhile Sato has jumped up to 7th during the pitstops

Now with everyone having made one scheduled stop, let’s have the current standings

As Massa battles with one of the Arrows, his team mate is back into the pitlane…

And he rejoins in the lead again, it’s pretty much Alonso’s race to lose now

Klien is having to defend hard from Raikkonen

And he’s still behind come the end of the lap

But the Finn is incredibly late on the breaks and sails past the Minardi at turn 3

And Webber has pulled of the road at the final corner

He retires with a brake problem

And Lotterer is off from second place!!!

And he’s out as well, that has got to be heart breaking for both Lotterer and his team…

That puts Vettel on the podium as it stands, however he has Barrichello all over the back of him

Meanwhile Kubica is in for his final stop of the race

He’s back out in 5th place

And that’s Massa overtaking Fisichella in turn 1 for 8th place, it’s been a pretty solid drive since he was taken out at turn 1

Barrichello is looking to go up the inside at 9…

And he tags Vettel! But they both keep their cars pointing the right direction

But Rubens’ is alongside down the main straight…

But the McLaren is just too quick in a straight line

Meanwhile Massa has pitted and is back down in 11th place, but he should still be on for some points

Barrichello still cannot get past Vettel…

And the German comes back across to defend his position…

And Barrichello spins!

He’s able to flick the car back round pretty quickly to stay in 3rd, but any hope of catching Vettel is now gone…

And Barrichello pits immediately..

He rejoins in 6th, if he had survived one more lap he probably would’ve got the undercut on Vettel

Alonso has pitted for the final time and he is still in the lead

And Vettel is now in

And he rejoins 3rd ahead of Schumacher who has taken advantage of Barrichellos’ spin, can he hold onto it until the end of the race?

Alonso is continuing to set the pace out in front

And Barrichello is quickly on the gearbox of the Toyota

And he slides down the inside of turn 3 to take 4th

Now Massa will be looking to do the same to Villeneuve…

And he replicates Barrichellos’ move exactly

But he’s gone wide at turn 9…

And he spins!

But he holds onto the final points paying position

Now Alonso is just a few corners from victory…

And he takes it with the fastest lap of the race!

Kubica is 2nd

And Vettel holds on for 3rd

Full results to follow.

DOTD
Obviously the award today will go to Fernando Alonso after taking the lead from 5th on the grid on the opening lap, even in controversial circumstances ;), and going onto dominate preceedings for the rest of the race. However Vettel and Kubica also deserve a mention after taking podiums on their F1 debuts and also Massa for a near perfect recovery drive after being +40 seconds behind the pack after turn 1.

Jordan Statement

That's unbelievable, first this @#$!% of Alonso destroys Kimi's race, then he makes several mistakes while fighting back into top10, and to make it even worse, André has to retire from 2nd place... This just can't be real

So close! Points were so close! Wondering what happened to Sato after his pit-stop, how he fell to 13th?
Ferrari

We are happy to have won the first race of the season, this hopefully means we can be up there all season. Alonso did great, taking the lead and then continue to win the race, dominating it. Felipe was very unlucky in turn 1, he made a great recovery grabbing a point, too bad he made a mistake after having overtook Jacques, else he would have been 7th!

Firstly our car looks awesome :D lol

Now we have some good progress from the team since a bad qualy. The car seems slow but good reliablity and thats something we can take forward. Points could come this season
Toyota

Solid start to the season for us with ralf having a super drive to 5th place from 13th to pick up his first points for us..cristiano had a torrid race, caught up in too many incidents..good to see we are reliable with both cars finishing, looking forward to malaysia :)
Red Bull

After a terrible start by the youngster taking out his team mate, we were straight on the radio to tell him the only way to redeem himself is to take a podium. As it turns out the incident didn't matter as Marks car failed him. All in all a pretty good start to the season.

4th & 6th is fine in our eyes.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe there is a point scoring error the constructors standings has us at 3 points when Rubens scored 5 points and David got 3. We should be on 8 unless this series is going against the real life F1 scoring system.

Mclaren Statement

Unlucky for Montoya but Sebastian Vettel, take a bow. Absolutely brilliant. Hopefully the first of many podiums

This just reminded me of something:

This ;) It just had to be a Schumacher (and a Williams) flying over a Ferrari ;)

I'm Not a owner of a Team But the mod is perfect.

Every detail is mappt like vettels Name and the german flag or alonso with Marlboro on the helmet.
Brilliant guys. Managing like reality. Absolutly brilliant.

Keep it up twigster. I Love to read the broadcasts since season 2003 :)
Yeah, the details that have been added for this season really improve the look of the series

Last year the mod looked messy, this season is a massive improvement

Thanks guys! It's posts like these that remind me why I still take the time to run the series :)

However I can't take full credit as already mentioned we all have Alesi no1 to thank for updating the cars, but also Chris2k6 was the one who started the series in the first place and ran the 2003 season. Without him this series would probably not exist today :)
