I started working on elevation data: comparing the graph with onboard video it seems accurate.
I only have one problem: csv data gives me height values approximately every 2,5 GP4Builder sectors, so I'd need to interpolate these values. Which is, in your opinion, the best way to do this?

I'm not sure about that, to be honest.

One thing to consider is that all the TV commentators and drivers say that the elevation changes are much bigger in real life than it looks on TV.

Oh well, when i say it looks accurate I mean that uphill and downhill section on the graph match what could be seen in the video, don't know if the real elevation change matches the one in the video.

Hope someone can help me, otherwise I'll have to interpolate manually something like 700 sectors of the track :-o

I could help you with the graphical part if you're interested.

If one is able to get a proper dat file, I can easily manage to extract elevations form Ed´s profile.

Tell me so.

I can provide you the dat file I made (well, I don't know if you can call it a "proper" dat file as it's a quick attempt) and the csv file associated to the graph I posted yesterday.

Sure Gigi4... If you wanna take your time, and you feel it can be improved, do it so :)

This track is available to play on NFS Shift2 Unleashed...

And those wondering what would be like for an F1 car to drive on this track...

Checkout this: Jenson Button's drive on Mount-Panorama

How would it be for GP4? :-O

It will be awesome for GP4! Also no need for buildings and stuff like that. Just tested the Indian track and looks terrific. I think a similar version of Bathurst would be great.

ok guys, I was wrong thinking I could work on this track as my free time is over (I have 5 exams at Uni in July-September) so I'll share with you the little work I made: the archive contains .dat file, elevation data in a graph and in csv file, hi-res aerial picture of the track (there were some problem with google maps photos as not everything was in the right scale).

I did this some months back. SchueyFan was correct on the distance not overstepping the boundaries of what is recommended in GP4builder.

a complete .dat file is required for physic behaviour of the track, only graphical part can be converted

Ok! It's that time again :))

Another Bathurst stupid question:

I just found this thing (can't remember on which site) download link >>> here <<<. The track is great just ran a quick lap on it.

readme.txt and credits:

GPxPatch (to load the track)
CMagic, Cmagic2000 (to install the magic data)

So this brings us to the stupid question :) :

Can this be converted into a GP4 .dat file?

This file combined with GTR2 scenery could be something that cuts this work big time

No, I don't think GP3 dats can be converted to GP4 easily.

Nothing is done easily but there's always someone to do the hard stuff.
