F1 Manager

The 2005 signings thread can be found here

Basic Idea

This series (originally established by Chris 2k6) gives 11 lucky players the chance to guide a Formula One team to success, whether it be Ferrari or Minardi. The game started in the 2003 season and has already developed greatly thanks to the choices each manager has made. Also real life events will come in to play, such as Red Bull wanting to take over Jaguar etc but, that doesn’t guarantee you success. Managers will also have to negotiate contracts with drivers and engine suppliers along with making many other decisions along the way.

Reserve Managers:

Because this series can only have 11 managers at one time we have now opened up a GP2 manager series that will run alongside this one, in order to accommodate the managers who are on the waiting list for this series, whilst they wait for a vacancy to arise. Once you sign up for the GP2 series you will automatically be added to the waiting list for the F1 series below:

Waiting List
1. mogotron
2. casssp
3. RegularJohn
4. Addrodoc
5. Pluis
6. ginnerchris
7. Lucasino
8. tonyschumi2011
9. Chris2k6
10. Ferrari2007
11. Vomit
12. JohnMaverick
13. ADrIaN1996

When a team becomes available the first manage on the list will be offered the job, if he rejects the offer the next person on the list will be offered the job. If more than one team is available the first person on the list can choose which team to sign for. When a manager inherits a team they must aware that they will also inherit any drivers or team takeovers (such as Red Bulls takeover at Jaguar) as well as the team’s current budget.

Final Championship Standings

Teams can attend any of the mid season test sessions (Jerez, Barcelona, Silverstone or Magny Cours) at a cost of £250k per test coming from last year’s budget. Feedback from these sessions will vary and managers can choose to focus on either reliability or pace.

Race Weekend

Race weekends will start with a friday practice. Here both of your drivers tack to the track and to act as getting a good set-up, your drivers will reward your team and themselves with a small increase for quali and the race. The way this will work is by working out the time difference between your two drivers with the first three teams recieving a 5 bhp boost, and 30 driver performance boost whilst 4th to 6th will recieve a 3 bhp boost, and a 15 driver performance boost. Free Practice and qualifying will be a one hour session whilst the race will be 100% race distance.

Contracts

Team managers are free to perform contract negotiations in order to sign drivers for the next season. A random selection of drivers will become available for contract negotiations at regular points throughout the season. Once drivers become available for negotiations teams are free to pm me (Twigster151) their offers and after two races I will announce which managers have successfully signed which drivers. If a driver receives no contract offers then they will remain open for offers. Engine, tyres and brake manufacturer offers can be made at anytime during the season. Teams must also be aware that they need AT LEAST two race drivers and one test driver for the season. Also if a team wishes to retain a driver for the next season they must still follow the negotiation process. Also once drivers have signed a contract for the next season other managers it may still be possible to tempt them away. This can be done by putting forward an improved offer directly to the their team manager and if he chooses to accept it, the driver will switch teams.

Setup Reward
A setup bonus is available every race weekend during Friday free practice. The closer you test driver is to your best driver the better the reward. The top 3 teams get a 30 driver performance bonus and a 5 bhp boost. Places 4th to 6th get 15 driver performance bonus and 3 bhp boost but it is only for that race weekend. The perfs then return to default ready for the next friday practice session. In order for a team to qualify for the setup reward at least one of their two drivers must post a time.

kedy89 has taken over management of Jordan. If anyone else still wants to join the grid I am willing to open the 11th grid slot as it makes things much more simple CSM wise :)

World Champion Raikkonen Moves to Jordan
It has been confirmed that after being suddenly dropped by Renault that the 2003 world champion Kimi Raikkonen has signed for the Irish based team for a fee reported to be around £15 million in an attempt to defend his title. It is thought that Mclaren placed a similar offer to resign the Finn who left the Woking based outfit last season but Raikkonen elected to join Jordan as he felt that his time at Mclaren had come to end.

Button To Race Alongside Alonso in 2004
Although Mclaren narrowly missed out on signing Raikkonen Jenson Button has been drafted in for a fee of £13 million to race alongside up and coming star Fernando Alonso. The British team will now also upgrade to Brembo brakes for the new season.

Renault Bring in Two New Faces
After new management shockingly dropped their entire lineup for the 2004 season all eyes lay on them to see who will replace the outgoing Raikkonen, Wilson and Gene. Today Renault were able to confirm that Giancarlo Fisichella will be replacing Justin Wilson as their number two driver whilst Gianmaria Bruni will become the teams test driver for a combined fee of £13 million. The team are still yet to confirm who will replace Raikkonen as the teams main driver after Mclaren chose to retain Alonso.

Sauber Complete Their 2004 Lineup
Sauber have been successful in completing their 2004 lineup with the signings of previous Mclaren test driver Alexander Wurz (£8 million) and previous Toyota driver and rising star Timo Glock (£6 million). Whilst they faced no competition for Wurz the Swiss team both Jordan and Jaguar were interested in signing the young German but neither could match the Sauber bid.

Toyota Sign 1997 World Champion Villenueve
Toyota have been successful in there pursuit of Jacques Villenueve for the 2004 season. The Japanese team paid around £8 million for the Canadian and also splashed out £4 million to bring in Cristiano Da Matta as the teams second driver.

EDIT: Macca you have a pm.

The next deadline for managers to submit their final driver offers will be midday Thursday. Also by then I will send pms out to each manager with their current lineup and reliability standings so managers can confirm which of the two preseason test they wish to take part in (Barcelona, Jerez, Silverstone or Imola) as well whether they wish to focus on improving pace or reliability. I have updated the budgets in the signings thread as well as the available drivers list.

You need to ad more younger cheaper drivers to the list for the smaller teams as well.

I don't see the point of adding more drivers to the list at this late stage considering the only 'small' teams left to complete their lineups are yourself and Jordan, who I have already received several offers from. So instead I will reduce the asking price of some of the drivers so kedy if you wish to adjust any of your bids just pm me again :-)

Desperation Beginning to Show for a Number of Drivers
In a bid to secure a seat in Formula One next season several drivers have reduced their minimum asking prices in an attempt to attract the three remaining teams that are yet to complete their 2004 drivers lineups. The changes include:

McNish £2m
Frentzen £5m
Zonta £1m
Monterio £3m
Wilson £4m
De la Rosa £3m
Baumgartner £2m
Firman £3m
