F1 1997 Mod...reborn??

hey guys
ive just read the original 1997 building thread (23 pages) and it looks like the thread was closed due to arguments between fellow members and Jcaranti withdrawal from the forum

i was just wondering...

is it possible anywhere on the web to get a 1997 csm carset for gp4
will the current one be finished in the near future...the work that was done must still be around somewhere?

if there isn't then where can i get a tutorial on compiling a non csm carset as it looks like Jcaranti has deleted his own tutorial when he left
also where abouts can i get my hands on everything needed to run the carset sucessfully? (i already have the cars)

Oi mate, if you have a look at the GP4FAQ there is info in how to insert cars into GP4. If you have all the cars, why not download the CSM Empty Mod by b-tone from gp4db.com and compile into a CSM Mod.
I cannot recall why I closed the thread right now, was a good while ago now. I'll mention your thread to Jorge next time I'm talking to him.

Jorge tells me has no desire to make any more CSM Mods for public release.

seems a shame
he is such a great producer of those mods when he tries
perhaps i could talk to him
even if he only made the mods for a select few and did not release for the whole public

at the very least a new compiling non csm tutorial needs to be released
(I could possibly ask him to send me one if i were given a forum where he is still a member)

Jorge is still on this site, no doubt he will read your post when he gets back from his break. I've emailed him asking about the tutorial you mentioned.
If you want helmets, look here [rs479.rapidshare.com]
If you want a 97 mod, you would probably have to do it yourself, or try the F1C 99-02 1997 mod. Jorge said he has no interest whatsoever in creating any csm mods for GP4, and he's quite firm on that point of view. He's now working on track projects.
Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. it can take months to get a mod together.

Helmets are in the 1997 mod thread (all but a few)

Cockpits are in the 1997 mod thread

With those things, you can easily create a mod for yourself, either with CSM or wads. As mortal said, you can use the Empty Mod for a base: [tmp.grandprixgames.org]

sorry to dig up an old thread but better than creating a new thread tho. i have just put all the required stuff into a new csm skeleton mod and everything is running fine but i cannot get the wheel and helmets to align to the 97 setting as they are stck on the original gp4 settings. would someone be able to give us a few tips to help. thanks
