Hello folks,

Is there anyone here able to extract tarmac 3d mesh of this track from GTR2 or Assetto Corsa version?

I would get it to use as base to my own track profiling...

Best regards and take care you all...

No way this track is alive... That would be awesome. I mean, I did the best job I could with MY .dat, but F1 Virtual is simply another level.

Hi.
We are currently involved at other projects, and in the meantime I was able to try some issues about banks mapping, which seems to be our main challenge here.

Turbo got me a 3DS Mesh in order to extract dat heights.

So far, so good. That is for the moment.

The layout on your pic looks good. How soon before release?

I need accurate elevations. 3d meshes from Rfactor are not as neat as I thought... If there is anyone skilled to extract tarmac meshes from Assetto Corsa version I would be able to insert as Zvalues for GP4 version. I will not start without proper elevations, it would be worthless.

Bump.

@gildoorf: I've been checking out what Google comes up with in terms of satellite data in the past couple of months and I recommend taking a look at it in Google Earth - having the mental image of the broad inflection points of the terrain and comparing it with what the program says, I think it's pretty useful as a base by now. With some luck, it should provide a good starting point from which one can finetune the nuances of the elevations using videos, photos, turn by turn guides, etc. I for one certainly plan to update my beta track with it in a few months time (it's pretty badly off the mark as of right now).

EDIT: Btw, neither the rFactor, nor the Assetto Corsa versions are laser scans, though the creator of the latter certainly knows how to close in on the real thing as much as possible...
