Less than 22 cars / Slipstream

Hey,

sometimes I am willing to start a race with less than 22 cars. I don't want to delete complete team, only some special drivers shouldn't start. It would be okay if they are still in the grid, but not getting away when the light goes green.

Of course I can give a car 0 horsepower in the performance file, but that would lead to get rid of the teammate as well, what I don't want. Giving a driver 0 ability for the race in the performance data, he is nevertheless starting and driving very very very slow.

So, what could be a solution here? Any ideas are welcome.

Hi!
Surely you can disable some separate drivers. You shall use the 'numcars' file in your 'gp4tweak_data' folder to manage that issue.

That's a good idea (Y).

But in my gp4tweak_data-FILE, there ist no section to tweak the car number per track. I only have the sections slipstream front, rear and drag.
In my gp4tweak_data-FOLDER are only the visors.

So what have I exactly to do to disable e.g. Michael Schumacher?

i'm not sure,but if i remember well,you should have in your gp4tweak folder a file called numcars.ini,than form that file just choose the driver you want to don't start for the race and put 0 instead of the default value that will be 1,you can choose even in which track the driver won't partecipate,let me know if you need more help,i hope this will be usefull ;)

Put THIS in your gp4tweak_data-FOLDER, and tweak it in any necessary way as Alessio said. Cheers.

Thanks for your help, but sadly it doesn't work :(. Here is what I tried:

1. I downloaded the file from Soutsen and put it in my gp4tweak_data-folder. But tweaking the file has no effect.

2. My gp4tweak.ini-file says:
Quote

[TWEAK_DATA_FILE]
CarsEnabler = gp4tweak_data.ini
SlipFront = gp4tweak_data.ini
SlipRear = gp4tweak_data.ini
SlipDrag = gp4tweak_data.ini
So I copied the content of Soutsens file into my gp4tweak_data.ini. Sadly tweaking still has no effect.

3. I changed my gp4tweak.ini-file to this:
Quote

[TWEAK_DATA_FILE]
CarsEnabler = numcars.ini
SlipFront = gp4tweak_data.ini
SlipRear = gp4tweak_data.ini
SlipDrag = gp4tweak_data.ini
and pasted Soutsens file in my GP4 main directory. But tweaking still has no effect :(.

Any more suggestions?

Oh, pardon me I forgot to mention that you need to check these lines in your gp4tweak.ini file:

[SYSTEM_TWEAKS_ENABLE]
CarsEnabler = 1

This should work.

In gp4tweak.ini make sure the lines are as follows:

[SYSTEM_TWEAKS_ENABLE]
CarsEnabler = 1 ; set to 1 to enable car enabler tweak // forgotten? (this turns the actual tweak on)

[TWEAK_DATA_FILE]
CarsEnabler = gp4tweak_data\numcars.ini (specifies where the carsenabler file is)

[TWEAK_DATA_SECTION]
CarsEnabler = CARS_NUMBERS_PER_TRACK (states what the tweak will do)

[TWEAK_DATA_KEY]
CarsEnabler = TRACK%02d (i dunno...)

I would also point out that i dont think that affects qualifying but it will affect the race (cars won't do anything in qualifying, but i cant confirm that). Credits to Stoopid for this info

Huh I didn't notice the
[TWEAK_DATA_FILE]
CarsEnabler = gp4tweak_data[missing_path].ini
in your description. So, Connor's remarks makes sence. Happy racing!

As it seems, I have a different version of GP4Tweaker-personal-edition. In my gp4tweak.ini there is no line called "CarsEnabler = 1 ; set to 1 to enable car enabler tweak".

Well, I copied this line into the file and did everything else truecrysis told me, but it still doesn't work. Is there a download link for the current TweakerPE-version available?

Sorry i just realised my method is for CSM mods, whereas from what i gather you are talking about non-CSM? Unfortunately i've not ever managed to get that to work so i'm no help...

As you can see, on my side everything is working fine:
Here is eight cars starting the race:

So sooner or later we will come to success.

I nearly never use CSM, I'm sorry, that I didn't tell this here. So, I installed the newest Tweaker version. It's quite a different version than mine before!

But where is the option to enable the numcars-tweak? At the moment the numcars.ini is out of order.

FFEffectGP4v100 = 0 ; set to 1 to enable force feedback custom effects (GP4 v1.00 only, may not working properly!)
CustomVisor = 0 ; set to 1 to enable custom visor tweak
VisorDirtEffect = 0 ; set to 1 to enable dirt effect tweak (CustomVisor must enabled)
VisorDirtPlayer = 0 ; set to 1 to enable dirt effect drawn on player car only

TyreWear = 0 ; set to 1 to enable adjustable tyre wear
MeshProtect = 0 ; set to 1 to enable encrypted GP4 *.gp4 mesh file supports
TextureProtect = 0 ; set to 1 to enable encrypted GP4 *.tex texture file supports

And something offtopic:
Sadly the slipstream-effect still does not affect cc-cars. Is there a way to solve this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Good morning! And here we go again, Klaus - you need to add the line in your gp4tweak.ini file below the

TyreWear = 0 ; set to 1 to enable adjustable tyre wear
MeshProtect = 0 ; set to 1 to enable encrypted GP4 *.gp4 mesh file supports
TextureProtect = 0 ; set to 1 to enable encrypted GP4 *.tex texture file supports

CarsEnabler = 1

Just do it. And sadly i do not know anything about slip-stream effect managing.

Finally we managed it (Y).
Many thanks to Soutsen and Alessio88 for supporting me in this issue.

What's the story behind it?
Sadly we do not have a safetycar in GP4. But with numcars.ini now I can at least re-start a race and delete those drivers who where already out of the race at the moment of caution (Y).

To slipstream effect:
In my opinion overtaking is still a little too easy at some tracks, so it would be nice if the cc-cars would be in trouble as well, when they are driving behind someone else through Eau Rouge. If yomeone else knows a little bit more how to manage the slipstream effect that way, please write me ;-).

For me the slipstream works perfectly well on the cc cars. Just ran a quick test on spa, and setting all the values to 99 for that specific track leads to a lot of overtakes, pretty much 2-3 every lap for the entire race, whereas having the values at 01 gives almost no overtakes as they cant get the speed up to get passed, so had huge sections of the race with no overtaking what so ever. It may be a little difficult to notice if the values are only changed by a slight amount, but it does effect them.

You may want to try both SlipPlayer set to 1 and 0 to see if that makes a difference.
