Can anyone direct me to a place in order to recreate the 2009 season on GP4

I would like to start from scratch instead of using MOD's as I find it more thrilling to do it that way as I can manipulate what I would like to the spec of my computer.

Any tips/ links or advice is kindly appreciate

:)

Hmm, to be honest the highest quality stuff for 2009 is what's available in FSOne's 2009 mod.

Mitsuro Sano created a bunch of great 2009 cars. You can get them in his thread here.

Completely forgot about Mitsuro's cars actually. Tom is correct, they are also very very good.

I just wanna build it all from scratch as my comp can't seem to handle everything that is put into a mod as it slows the game down too much

Sounds like you are using a laptop? The community-made car shapes and textures are much more detailed than the originals and the game engine doesn't cope well unless you have a dedicated graphics card, which some laptops lack.

You'll need to do some work to reduce the texture quality if you make a mod yourself. Use SlimTex, part of ZaZ Tools, to do that.

What does slimtex do exactly

I am aware that all graphic are hi res when created

I am also aware that I am asking a lot of questions some of which sound very dumb

One thing SlimTex can do is resize textures. You can reduce texture sizes to half, or quarter, of their original size, which helps to speed up the game a bit.

When you say "the main folder" you need to be more specific. What is this folder called and where is it?

I have read through the guide in the faq in regards to upgrading to 2010.

In the opening few comments in regards to inputting new car graphics that is what I am referring to as in where would they need to be inserted.

It might just be me but I do not seem to be able to find in depth detail on how to do things, as most people on this site seem to be experienced and acustome to how to do things but I am looking for a newbie guide if anyone can shed some light on this.

Even using tools like slimtex as I can not see a read me file for it

If you are updating car textures, they are always found in /data/cars/* where * represents a team name. Each folder contains the lods and the tex files.
The problem is that the car textures are all hi_res, and you really need a bit of grunt in the graphics department to run a csm mod. Trying to reduce all the textures, and then reduce all the lods as well, may not work, not to mention the amount of blood, sweat and tears spent in front of the screen. It would be easier to upgrade in fact. Buy a cheap second hand rig and spend the saving on a 1GB graphics card. For example, my simulator runs a Dell Optiplex (low profile so it fits under the seat), bought second hand on Ebay with a 1Gb 4000 series Ati Radeon running XP SP3. An alternative would be GP3, it can run in SW mode, but then the eye-candy is not as nice.

All the cars work in the 2009 mod by fsone

Just need a track pack?

However it just feels very slow and sluggish

Get a new PC :( In all seriousness you won't get good results on that, no matter how hard you try (I've been there, a lot us of have!). Like mortal says, you really need a good gfx card to run the modern updates.

so there really is no point in me trying anything on this laptop seeing as I can not add a graphics card to the laptop
