Not bad for Sutil being ahead of Wurz in free practice. Let's get on to qualifying to see what happens next.

It would appear so! I've somehow managed to take over haha. The Bahrain race has been won and qualifying will be posted tomorrow morning :)

Seems for us Ralf did put a great lap to go P2 in FP, but De La Rosa wasn't far off which he's still in top 10 and that's good to hear. We're looking forward to the quali and race.

Super Aguri
Some of our drivers still posting good pace, but there's no changes which kindly is not good. Although, looking forward to the quali and race should give us some hope for the good weekend overall.

Happy to be onboard with this team, while still getting to know everyone the team is busy working in Bahrain. A very good 9th place for Coulthard, Doornbos is staying a little behind in 15th. Let's see what we can do in qualifying!

2006 Bahrain Grand Prix - Qualifying

Giancarlo Fisichella picked up where he left off in free practice by qualifying on pole for the season opener in Bahrain. Joining him on the front row is Toyota's Jenson Button with Ralf Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton on the second row.

Toyota

What an effort by Jenson to get himself on the front row of the grid. Fingers crossed we can score some big points from that position. Also extremely happy to see Mark Webber in 7th, gives us a great chance in the race if we can get the strategy right.

Yes Fisis that's how it's done!

Also, corrected me if I'm wrong John but in my head I thought we had Fisichella and Da Marta as our main driver lineup? It's not a problem for this race just want to double check :)

The qualifying for us was great, but not so smoothly. Ralf did manage 3rd which is great to get him on second row for the race. Although for Nick it wasn't the great result he wanted but he'll give it everything for the race to score some points. We're definitely looking forward to the race and it should be exciting.

Super Aguri
Good work on these guys, the pace wasn't there and we'll start on last row. It should be much exciting but we don't expect to catch other cars as we think it will be impossible.

Oh! Good spot. Put the wrong driver shortcut in on the excel sheet. It is Da Matta I think

As we are the only team who supplies Honda, 13th and 14th isn't something we quite wanted for the result. But still, everything doesn't seem too bad for us.

Could be better, but still a solid effort by both gentlemen. We've worked towards some good race pace as shown in practice. Now let's hope that'll actually convert into the race.

2006 Bahrain Grand Prix

Hello and welcome to the 2006 Bahrain Grand Prix. The weather is sunny with no chance of rain during the race with Giancarlo Fisichella looking to take victory for Williams following his pole position in qualifying yesterday.

Lights out and away we go!

Contact! Kubica and Sutil collide on the run down to the first corner and will both need to pit

Hang on! Hamilton is out!

video: [youtu.be]

Replays show that Nick Heidfeld outbraked himself into the first corner and wiped out the Brit. The German will have to pit.

More contact. This time Karthikeyan runs into the back of Montoya. Not a good start for Montoya after the Columbian got caught up in the first corner drama.

Karthikeyan is out of the race but fortunately for Red Bull, Montoya has no damage.

Alonso runs into the back of Raikkonen in the final corner.

And spins the Renault

Raikkonen also drops a couple of places

Kubica runs wide. Not a good start for the Polish driver

It gets worse for Red Bull as Montoya spins

He rejoins the track behind Alonso in 17th

Massa has a small off but manages to recover

With 5 laps gone, here is the running order

Alonso's having a look down the inside of Da Matta

But runs into the back of him!

Both drivers spin and drop down the field

Scott Speed is off the track but recovers quickly

Seems that off has affected him, he's off again!

Contact between Glock and Raikkonen! Fortunately there's no damage to either car

Kubica is off again

Fisichella pits from the lead

And is easily out ahead of the chasing pack

Speaking of the chasing pack, Mark Webber is now up into second! Excellent work from the Toyota pit crew

Da Matta spins

And rejoins the track in the path of Red Bull's Robert Kubica

The contact signals the end of Da Matta's race

Kubica will need to pit

Here's the running order with 25 laps gone

Sutil runs wide

Ralf Schumacher has a look down the inside of Jenson Button for 4th

And he's through. Great move by the BMW man

Michael Schumacher is his next target but the former world champion is off!

He's spun it and drops to 5th

Kubica has a problem. He's out with transmission failure.

Montoya has a look down the inside of Massa for 10th and takes the place

2nd round of pitstops and Toyota can't repeat the trick this time, Ralf Schumacher is through past Button

The race leader pits

No dramas for the Italian

Sutil is out of the race with suspension failure and we've also lost Tiago Montiero to a water leak

Mistake by Button with two laps left!

Schumacher is through

The brit rejoins in 7th

Massa is out, his engine's blown

Giancarlo Fisichella wins the 2006 Bahrain Grand Prix. A superb drive from the Italian

Mark Webber comes home in second

With Ralf Schumacher 3rd
